Well, Chauncy is looking for a soft place to rest his head. He is a Shih Tzu weighing a little over 7lbs. Chauncy's former owner had to move to a nursing home and Chauncy found himself in an animal control with his best friend, Willow. RCHS stepped in and took the two seniors in. Chauncy has some health issues we have been treating. First one is his eyes. He has what is called Microphthalmia (one eye being abnormally small, non-Functioning) in one eye and the other eye, he has suffered prolonged dry eye. He requires drops in both eyes, which leads us to the fact he is basically blind. The next issue is his teeth. He is in need of a dental, but right now he is not strong enough to be sedated. He is eating Little Ceasar right now and doing very well with it. Chauncy has been hanging out with Willow and enjoying his days. Meet Alex Alex is a sweet, spunky senior looking for a soft place to land. He’s about 8–9 years old, weighs 9 lbs, and is neutered and fully vaccinated. Despite some vision and hearing loss, Alex loves to play and enjoys long, leisurely sniff He is mostly deaf and can only hear some loud or high-pitched noises, so small children are not recommended, as he may have trouble predicting sudden movements. He does best in a calm, low-key home with respectful children who understand giving him space when needed. Alex is house-trained and knows to go potty outside, and he is continuing to improve. Because of his hearing loss, he may sometimes need a gentle tap to get his attention when it’s time to come inside from the yard. He does not enjoy being crated, but he is comfortable being confined to a room or behind a baby gate. He gets along well with older, mellow pets, but can be a bit grumpy around high-energy animals or overly hands-on kids. Overall, Alex is a loving “old man” with lots of personality who would thrive in a quiet, patient home where he can feel safe and cherished.
