Story
Ellie it’s a very sweet and affectionate girl. She is shy with new people, but once she knows you and trusts you, she is very attentive and loving. She gets along with cats and other dogs. She doesn’t love to be left alone and can be vocal about it, but otherwise she rarely barks unless there is an issue. She would prefer a home with older children, as young ones scare her. Ellie rides well in a car and likes to play. She is very snuggly and loves attention. She gets excited when you return and does zoomies occasionally, but she is not an overly energetic dog. We were told when she was surrendered that she was house trained, but in her foster home, this has proved to be a bit of a challenge for her. Sometimes she will go outside and other times she will not. She needs some work in this avenue, but otherwise she is nearly a perfect little dog!If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Story
Lucy is an 8 year old Shih Tzu. She is a lovely, family-friendly dog with a sweet disposition. Lucy has had recurrent urinary tract infections for 5-6 years now. All imaging (X-rays, ultrasounds) has shown no abnormality. Being on a specialty diet was initially helping, but being around small children whose food she has access to hasn’t been helpful in keeping her strictly on her dog food. We just do not have the time/energy to invest to make sure she is only eating her food, taking daily walks, and receiving the attention she deserves. She is house trained but does have accidents inside when her infections resurface. We will get her shots updated (she is just missing most recent vaccines).
