Story
Introducing Tucker, a Shih Tzu, born appx July 2017.  Tucker is a calm and happy boy.  He likes to follow his people wherever they go.  Tucker also likes to play catch with a tennis ball.  Tucker is looking for a loving home with his bestie, Tatum.  He is also a Shih Tzu, born 2018. They are both housebroken, crate trained and leash trained.  Tatum and Tucker get along with other dogs and cats.  They are friendly with new people they meet and kids of all ages.  If you're looking for a pair of gentlemen and one that will follow you all over, please consider adopting these two! The perfect home for this senior pair is with someone that will welcome into their home and give them lots of LOVE! The suggested adoption donation for both Tatum & Tucker is $550, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Meet Joey!Joey is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu mix that is around 10-15 pounds at full growth. Joey came to us as an owner surrender due to him not doing well with the children in the home. Because of this, he would do best in a home where there are no children. We were told that he has done well playing with larger dogs but with smaller dogs he may can be overwhelming to them as he has a hard time understanding that others need a break. He is not fully potty trained and would need help getting on a consistent schedule for potty training, but he has done well using papers at this time. Because he is still learning to trust, a home with a fence will be required at this time. He does have a hard time trusting people coming into his space, so he would do best in a home where there are no visitors or a home that would be comfortable kenneling him when new people come over. We are still learning more about him as he is still very unsure of his new surroundings and constant new people, that he would have to have a few meets in order for him to feel comfortable being handled. If you would like to know more information or would like to be considered for Joey, please feel free to fill out an adoption application online.
