Story
Hercules lives up to his name — strong, loyal, and fiercely devoted to the one he loves most. This handsome pup forms deep bonds with his person and thrives in a calm, one-on-one environment where he can truly shine.Due to his protective nature, Hercules needs a home with a single adult owner who understands dog behavior and can provide firm, consistent guidance. He becomes very attached to his person and may act defensively around strangers or other animals. But once he trusts you, you’ll have a loving, loyal companion who’s always by your side.Hercules would do best in a quiet home without a lot of visitors or chaos. He’s smart, trainable, and eager to please — he just needs the right environment to feel safe and thrive. No apartments or condos

Story
Meet Mister 💙 Mister is a small dog with a big heart who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be. He came to us severely matted, but after a much-needed makeover, he’s feeling so much better and ready to start his next chapter. Mister is a nervous guy and is looking for a dog-experienced adult home where he can feel safe and supported. Because of his rough past, he can be unsure about handling at first, but with patience, kindness, and respect for his boundaries, he continues to gain confidence every day. Treats and toys are the way to Mister’s heart! With their help, he’s warming up to new people quickly and learning that humans can be gentle, loving, and fun. Once he’s comfortable, Mister shows his true personality — an active, playful, and very cuddly little guy who loves to be close to his people. Mister just needs a patient, understanding home that will give him the time and space he needs to blossom into the happy companion he’s meant to be. The reward? A loyal best friend who will love you deeply. 🐾 Mister will be neutered on Tuesday, 1/6, and will be ready to go home after that.

Story
Handsome Boy-boy aka "Bobbi" is a sweet but shy shih zhu. He came in with a couple of other siblings but is especially bonded to his sister, Jasmine. They were surrendered when their owners health hindered them from being able to properly care for all of them. These two are bonded and should go home together. They lack cat experience and likely would want to be the only dogs, since they seem a bit to nervous of other dogs they have seen here that aren't from their family. This means they may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat if introduced very slowly. They are nervous around new people, so they would both prefer to not live with small children. They both love treats which helps reinforce that people = good. Boy-boy has been more confident than Jasmine, but only be a little bit. They did have to be shaved down from some matting here, so they are currently wearing sweaters. They will need continued regularly grooming throughout their life, so that is something to keep in mind! If these two cuties would be a good fit for your home, give us a call at (603) 472-3647 and press 1 for adoptions. Please leave a voicemail if we do not answer, we respond in the order that we receive them.

Story
Pretty little Jasmine here is a sweet but shy shih zhu. She came in with a couple of other siblings but is especially bonded to her brother, Boy-boy (aka "Bobbi"). Jasmine is a touch more nervous, especially around hands reaching over her head. However, as seen in the photos, she loves a good chin scratch once she trusts you. They did have to be shaved down from some matting here, so they are currently wearing sweaters. They will need continued regularly grooming throughout their life, so that is something to keep in mind! If these two cuties would be a good fit for your home, give us a call at (603) 472-3647 and press 1 for adoptions. Story
Gumbo here. So this is Walter. Named after that cranky old man puppet who looks like he’s been mad since the Carter administration. Accurate? Painfully. Let me be clear: Walter did not wake up one day and choose violence. Walter woke up one day and chose survival. This little dude came out of a hoarding situation with 51 other dogs, which means: • zero personal space • zero dignity • and about zero reason to trust humans who keep saying “it’s fine” while everything is, in fact, not fine And yet look at him. Standing there like: “I’ve seen things. I’ve smelled things. And if you touch my snacks wrong, I will file a complaint.” Same, Walter. Same. He’s not aggressive. He’s not mean. He’s just done with nonsense—and honestly? Respect. Walter doesn’t need chaos. He’s lived it. He needs a quiet home, soft beds, regular meals, and people who understand that old souls don’t do well with foolishness or loud noises or whatever you call children. So if you want a dog who: • judges silently • bonds deeply • and will absolutely side-eye bad decisions from across the room Congratulations. Walter is your guy. And before anyone asks—yes, he will warm up. But like me, he requires snacks, patience, and proof you’re not an idiot. —Gumbo 🐾 Chief Spokesdog, Protector of the Tired, Union Rep for Dogs Who Are Over It Adoption Fee: $250 Currently located in Fosters, AL and can be transported North (VT, PA, or CT) to an adopter!
