Story
We got Sparky at a pet store when he was a puppy, and he is currently 11 years old. He is a good dog, a bit grumpy like all Shih Tzus. Right now, he is very bored at home since I work long hours, and that’s why I want to find him a new home with someone who can dedicate more time to him. He is a bit picky with his food; over the years, he no longer likes kibble, and I have to make him homemade meals.Sparky also loves being with people or his owners, but he likes his personal space, so I don't recommend hugging and kissing him too much since he doesn't really like it. I call him my grumpy old man; he has never bitten anyone because we all know when to give him love and when to give him space, but he is an adorable dog.

Story
Mina Paws is a rare and beautiful black Shih Tzu girl who is estimated to be about 10 years old, though you might never guess it by looking at her bright expression and those surprisingly beautiful teeth. This sweet little lady weighs about 17 pounds and has recently begun a new chapter in life after losing the only home she had ever known.   Sadly, when her owner passed away, Mina’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The remaining family members left her outside for a period of time, and this gentle girl went from being someone’s companion to being neglected and forgotten. By the time rescue was able to step in, Mina was in very poor condition. Her coat had thinned drastically from untreated skin issues, her nails had grown so long they were nearly curling into her paw pads, and she was understandably frightened and confused. But even through all of that, Mina’s sweet spirit was still there waiting to shine again.   With proper veterinary care, treatment for her skin, and the kindness of a loving foster home, Mina has been transforming day by day. Her hair has almost completely grown back in, her skin is healing beautifully, and she is beginning to look like the lovely Shih Tzu girl she was born to be. Even more importantly, her heart is healing too.   Mina can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, which is understandable after everything she has been through. But once she feels safe, her affectionate personality blossoms. She loves to cuddle, happily settling into a warm lap where she feels most content. She has even started to rediscover the joy of play as she slowly lets go of the sadness from her past. It’s truly wonderful to watch her greet each new day with a little more confidence and happiness.   Mina Paws also gets along beautifully with other animals. She lives peacefully with both dogs and cats and enjoys their quiet companionship. She would do well in a calm home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished.   This sweet senior girl is fully vetted and ready for the next chapter of her life. She has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and has even had a complete senior bloodwork panel to ensure she is healthy moving forward.  All Mina wants now is a gentle home where she will never again have to wonder if she is loved.   If you are interested in giving this precious girl the safe and happy future she deserves, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.   Mina Paws is currently in Nashville, TN, and we also transport every to families in the northeastern region.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 5, 2026, 2:34 pm

Story
DOB 4-30-2025 DeChen is looking for his new home and Mom! He's a beautiful Shih Tzu with a good personality, loves to play and gets along with others. DeChen is complete on all medical, up to date on shots, neutered, heartworm negative and has received a ProHeart6 preventative injection. This boy will come with all his registration and medical papers. His adoption fee is 900.00, his transport fee is 165.00. Our transport is HEARTS LLC, they are the best and deliver to East Coast every other week. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step.  Meet Snickers- He is part of a Perfectly Balanced Pair  Moochie and Snickers are 3-year-old Shih Tzu siblings who have lived together their whole lives. They do well when separated but since they love to play together so much, we are looking for a forever home to keep both of them together. Surrendered when their previous owner was no longer able to meet their needs, these two are now ready for a fresh start — and a family who will cherish them as much as they cherish each other. Though they’re littermates, their personalities beautifully complement one another. Moochie (who is dark grey and white) is the softer, shyer soul of the pair. Calm and gentle, she is happiest curled up on your lap or quietly resting by your side. She finds comfort in being close to her people. Moochie gets along with other dogs, but she appreciates polite introductions and respectful space. If another dog gets in her face too quickly, she may lift her lip or give a little growl to set boundaries — she simply prefers a slower, more thoughtful approach. With a little time, she settles in nicely.  But she definitely prefers people to other dogs (except for her brother snickers who she LOVES to romp around with). Snickers (who is tan), on the other hand, is a social butterfly! Outgoing and playful, he loves to run, romp, and play with other pups — and size doesn’t faze him one bit. From tiny 10-pound friends to 65-pound buddies, Snickers is ready to make friends with them all. He adores toys, enjoys meeting new people, and brings a joyful, energetic spark wherever he goes. Both dogs are currently learning their housebreaking skills and are doing very well. Because they’re still building consistency, their ideal home would have someone home much of the time to help them continue their progress and maintain a routine. With structure and patience, they’re proving to be quick learners.  Moochie and Snickers truly thrive together — Snickers helps boost Moochie’s confidence, and Moochie keeps Snickers grounded. They are a wonderful example of how two different personalities can create one perfectly matched pair. If you’re looking for double the companionship, double the love, and two sweet little shadows to share your life with, Moochie & Snickers may be the perfect addition to your family.  All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. February 27, 2026, 8:17 pm

Keep looking, Scooter is not the dog for you! Do you want to brag to your friends about how your rescue dog loves only you? Scooter may be your guy. Want to ward off social situations and small talk? Scooter can help! Do you want a dog who will deeply love you, and quite literally jump into your arms? Well if you can prove your worth, Scooter will give you all that and more. Scooter does well with crate training, going to the bathroom outside, and allows his besties to groom him. He seems open to other dogs and maybe even cats.
