Story
Panda is a 3-year-old male Shih Tzu mix and a charming tripod who’s ready for his forever home. He was rehomed twice and ultimately surrendered to Broken Tail Rescue after his second owner failed to provide proper care; now he’s recovering and looking for a loving, stable family. Medically, Panda recently underwent a sedated groom to remove severe matting, had X‑rays and bloodwork completed, and recovered from a right-rear leg amputation. Because of his amputation, Panda should be carried up and down full sets of interior stairs. Personality-wise, Panda is affectionate and gentle, preferring to be near people; he’s not a big barker but will cry if left alone. He walks well on leash, is housetrained with a schedule, and gets along with other small dogs. Panda’s ideal home would be with someone who works from home, an active retiree, or a multi-generational household — a calm, patient family ready to give him the consistency and closeness he loves. Because of Panda’s amputation, single-floor living is most desirable. Panda is up to date on immunizations and is on a 12-month heartworm prevention protocol. Panda is fostering in Central Massachusetts. If you are interested in finding out more about Panda, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Panda is being fostered in Central Mass The adoption fee is $500 Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Meet Hercules Hercules is a sensitive, loyal dog who takes his time getting comfortable with new people. He isn’t a “love at first sight” kind of guy—he needs multiple meet-and-greets before feeling safe enough to go home—but once he trusts you, his bond is deep and devoted. With his person, Hercules truly shines. He loves going on walks (where there isn`t a lot of traffic walking past), playing with his toys, and winding down with some well-earned snuggles at the end of the day. He forms a strong attachment to one person and is happiest in a calm, predictable environment.Hercules would do best in a single-person household and cannot go to an apartment. He needs a home with more space and a stable environment. A home with no children living in or visiting is required. Because he bonds closely and can be protective, he needs an experienced, committed adopter who understands his needs. Continued professional dog behavior training would be a big benefit for him and will help set everyone up for success. If you’re patient, consistent, and looking for a deeply loyal companion, Hercules may be the perfect match for you

FILENA **Currently Available for Adoption!** Good with Kids and Dogs! Meet Filena! 4 yrs./12 lb./Female/Shih Tzu Mix Name: Filena Age: 4 years Weight: 12 lbs Breed: Shih Tzu Mix Status: Looking for someone who sees perfection beyond appearances. ❤️ About Me: Hi! I'm Filena, and if you're looking for a little sidekick with a huge heart, I think we should meet. My story didn't start the way every dog deserves. I was overlooked because I have one blind eye and mammary tumors from never being spayed. But here's the funny thing... none of that has ever stopped me from living life with a wagging tail and a joyful heart. I'm happy, affectionate, and always ready to be part of whatever you're doing. Whether we're going for a walk, running errands, or settling in for a cozy evening on the couch, I'll happily be your little shadow. I don't dwell on the past—I simply wake up each day excited for whatever comes next. I'm not looking for someone to feel sorry for me. I'm looking for someone who sees me for who I am: a lovable little terrier with so much life, love, and companionship to give. Best Qualities Sweet, cheerful, and full of personality The perfect pint-sized companion at just 12 pounds Loves being close to her people Resilient, affectionate, and ready for her fresh start Ideal Match Someone with a kind heart who understands that every dog deserves to be loved—not because they're perfect, but because they're perfectly themselves. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will remind you every day that joy isn't about having a perfect life, but about making the most of it, I just might be your girl. Deal Breakers Looking for "perfect" instead of perfectly lovable. Believing a disability defines a dog's worth. Not planning on making me part of the family forever. Fun Fact: I may only have one working eye, but I can spot a kind heart from a mile away.

Story
Banjo is a 4-month-old - 6 lb., shihtzu/yorkie mix puppy that has not had an easy life. His big, sad brown eyes look right through you. The family that had Banjo didn't even bother to give him a name during the time they had him. Their dogs had an accidental litter, and they rehomed all but Banjo, they wanted to keep him. The longer they had him, the more they realized they could not care for him any longer. Thankfully, we have helped them in the past and they reached out to us to take him in. We will be getting the mom fixed so she does not have any more puppies. Banjo is now safe with a foster and is available for adoption. Banjo is more like an 8-week-old puppy than a 16-week-old puppy. He doesn't know what toys are. The floors inside the house are his own personal slip and slide haha He has been introduced to kittens, and he fears them. The kittens walked up to him, and he ran away in terror, despite they were smaller than him. Banjo would do best in a home with another small dog or 2. He is very timid at first and other small dogs around him help build his confidence. When he is around other dogs, his spunky, happy, fun side comes out, and he is a whole other puppy He will need grooming throughout his life as he does have long, soft hair. Based on his parents, we do not think that Banjo will get over 10-11 lbs once full grown. Please keep in mind when applying for Banjo that he is a tiny puppy who needs lots of love, training, patience, care and comfort to help him become the best he can be. This sweet, gentle boy will be a wonderful companion for the perfect home! Banjo is current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. PLEASE READ BELOW: To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals out in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We ONLY do adopt in Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee listed ($795) INCLUDES transport from Texas to the Northeast. Transport goes to the following locations every 2-3 weeks: Albany, NY - Only one transport company goes here, once a month Wells, VT and Brattleboro, VT - Only one transport company goes here, once a month Nashua, NH - Only one transport company goes here, times vary Willington, CT - Stamford, CT - Dayville, CT Steubenville, OH - Cincinnati, OH - Grove City, OH Grove City, PA and Washington, PA Ridgefield, NJ and Mt Laurel, NJ Emmitsburg, MD and Elkton, MD Falls Church, VA and Glenn Allen, VA We have happily adopted over a thousand of animals this way (long distance), and we do our best to make sure the animal you are applying for is best fit for your home.
