Story
Meet Winston! Winston is a sweet 5-year-old Shih Tzu and Poodle mix weighing 14 pounds. This little guy has had a rough start — found as a matted and overgrown stray in Detroit, Winston was understandably shut down and fearful in the loud, overwhelming shelter environment. But now, in his foster home, he is making wonderful progress! At first meeting, Winston is very shy and unsure. He tends to warm up more quickly to quiet, patient women, while he may bark at men until he feels comfortable and safe. Given time, Winston blossoms into a loving and affectionate companion who truly wants to connect. Winston walks nicely on a leash (no tethers please) and is crate-trained. He’s a relatively quiet boy who mostly barks only at unfamiliar faces. He enjoys the company of other dogs and has no issues with cats. Because he’s not fond of high-energy environments, Winston would thrive best in a calm, adult-only home where he can feel safe and relaxed. This special boy will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable. Winston is looking for a patient and loving family who will give him the time and care he deserves — a family to call his forever. Could you be the one to open your heart and home to Winston? He’s ready to shower his forever family with love once he feels safe and secure.  If you’re looking for a devoted, gentle, and quiet companion, Winston is waiting to meet you! Winston is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedNeuteredADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. Story
Meet Cindy Lou! Age: 4 yearsBreed: Shih Tzu MixWeight: 14lbs Cindy Lou came to us as a stray who was never reclaimed, arriving matted and covered in fleas. With plenty of care and kindness, she has blossomed into a sweet, social, and affectionate little lady who’s ready to steal hearts. This girl loves attention, shows off the cutest underbite, and is happiest when she’s lounging on the couch next to her foster mom. She also enjoys romping around a fenced yard, taking in the fresh air, and exploring at her own pace. Cindy Lou walks well on a leash, making strolls around the neighborhood a pleasant adventure. She does well with other dogs, doesn’t mind cats, and would likely be a great fit for dog-savvy children. While she appreciates snuggle time, she’s not always a couch potato - Cindy Lou would do best with an active family who can give her both love and engagement. Because she can be vocal at times, she’s not the best match for apartments or condos. She is also not suited for a tether system and has no experience with invisible fencing, so a secure, physical fence is ideal or an avid walker. Cindy Lou has demonstrated good house manners and is crate trained, though being crated is not her favorite thing. She will need regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. Now she’s looking for a family who will cherish her furever - could that be you? We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)!
