The rescue will pay for his heartworm treatment and neutering. Ben’s story is heartbreaking, but his resilience is inspiring. This 10-year-old Shih Tzu was found as a stray, completely blind, severely underweight, and heartworm positive. Despite everything he has endured, Ben is gentle, loving, and so grateful for every bit of kindness he receives. Ben has begun the first phase of his heartworm treatment and will need a local adopter or foster who can take him to his veterinary appointments in Fuquay-Varina, NC. When cleared, he will also need to be neutered and receive a dental. He is currently working on his potty manners, which should continue to improve after he is neutered and settled into a routine. Ben is the sweetest boy—calm, affectionate, and eager for a safe home where he can finally rest. After years of neglect, he deserves comfort, patience, and love. Through his adoption, Mont Joy will ask his new family to assist him by making a donation of $500 (tax-deductible) in addition to the adoption fee ($395) to help his friends in need. Introducing - Mont Joy or "Monty". He is a sweet, easygoing boy who truly lives up to his name. Monty appears to be potty trained and has lovely house manners. He was left outside of the crate unsupervised and was on his best behavior - proven to be trustworthy. Monty has been around a 16 month old while in foster - he was gentle, appropriate and interested! At night, he sleeps cozily in bed and through the night, happy to settle in and relax. He does very well with other dogs and has been part of a big pack of dogs while in foster - mostly dogs of similar size but also 1 large GSD. He integrates easily and has a friendly demeanor. Like many dogs, Monty can be vocal at times - mainly just when he's excited or communicating his needs though. He seems to be very smart and is overall a charming little dog. Monty is a good eater and you don't have to wait around for him to finish his serving! He has been eating Science Diet small bites. Monty will need regular grooming for his beautiful black curly coat. He did great with a quick at home groom - it is obvious he has experience with grooming. We are so happy for Monty to find his forever family and know he will make the perfect new addition.
