Story
Meet Mocha — a 7 year old, 20 lb Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and the cutest little poses! Quick Facts: Name: Mocha Breed: Shih Tzu Age: 7 years old Weight: 20 lbs. House-Trained: Yes (needs frequent potty breaks) Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes, select dogs – with proper, slow introduction Good with Cats: No (likes to chase them) Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Low – Medium (mostly a couch potato) Fence Required: No Special Needs: Mocha had bladder stone surgery and will need to be on a prescription food for life to keep the stones from reforming. About Mocha Breed: Mocha is a Shih Tzu. Shih Tzus are known for their affectionate, gentle nature and their love of being close to their people. They’re typically calm, friendly companions who enjoy a relaxed lifestyle filled with cuddles, cozy naps, and short daily walks. With their sweet temperaments and easygoing personalities, they make wonderful lap dogs and loyal family members. Their ideal home is one that offers consistent affection, a peaceful environment, and a comfortable routine. They thrive with adults or families who appreciate a low energy companion and enjoy spending quiet time together. Whether in an apartment or a house, Shih Tzus flourish when they’re loved, included, and given plenty of opportunities to snuggle. What to Love about Mocha: Mocha is the perfect blend of couch potato snuggler and short walk enthusiast! She’s super affectionate, loves attention, and has no problem asking for it — especially when she balances on her back legs to make her requests known! (She also does this after she goes potty… she may or may not have been trained to expect a treat for that!) Mocha is potty trained, but she needs frequent potty breaks, she’s otherwise easygoing and happy. She’s also crate trained and does wonderfully when left alone in her crate while you’re out. Mocha loves people and especially gravitates toward feminine energy — she’s the ultimate girls’ night in companion! She’s great with kids and affectionate with them. With dogs, she’s generally good but can be a little choosy; she’ll politely correct dogs who get on her nerves, so slow introductions are best. Cats, however, are a no go — she thinks they’re meant to be chased, so a feline free home is ideal. She’s a low to medium energy girl who enjoys her daily walks and is fantastic on a leash. Whether you’re a first time dog parent or a seasoned one, Mocha’s easygoing nature makes her a joy to have around. She’s full of charm, sweetness, and adorable poses (just look at her pictures!) and is ready to bring love, snuggles, and a little bit of sass into her forever home! Mocha’s Miraculous Highlights: • 7 year old, 20 lb Shih Tzu with an irresistibly soft, cuddly personality • Loves short walks just as much as being a total couch potato • Super snuggly and never shy about asking for attention • Adorably balances on her back legs when she wants something • Potty trained, but needs frequent breaks  • Crate trained and perfect in her crate when left alone • Loves people and especially gravitates toward feminine energy — the ultimate girls’ night sidekick • Great with kids and affectionate with them • Good with dogs but a little choosy; slow introductions help her feel comfortable • Not a fan of cats — she thinks they’re for chasing, so a feline free home is best Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. House-Trained: Yes with pee pads (needs training to go outside) Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes (loves kids!) He’s working on his outdoor potty training but reliably uses pee pads in the meantime. He’s also crate trained and can be left alone either in or out of the crate, though he may bark a bit when his people leave because he loves them so much.   Griffith needs a fenced yard where he can safely explore and enjoy a leisurely stroll. He’s absolutely wonderful with everyone he meets — kids, dogs, and cats alike. In fact, he naps side‑by‑side with his dog and cat foster siblings, proving just how gentle and easygoing he is! On walks, he’s great on a leash, and when he plays, he brings soft, sweet energy to the moment.   At heart, Griffith is a cozy couch potato who’s always ready for a TV‑binge night, a cuddle session, or simply being your loyal shadow. He’s looking for a family who wants a devoted, loving sidekick and can patiently support him as he continues his potty‑training journey. Griffith knows he’ll make the perfect, affectionate addition to a home that’s ready to adore him right back!   Griffith’s Gripping Highlights: 7‑year‑old, 20‑lb Shih Tzu who loves being close to his people Talkative and affectionate — happiest when he’s snuggled on the couch or in bed Working on outdoor potty training and reliably uses pee pads Crate trained and can be left alone in or out of the crate Needs a fenced yard to safely run, explore, and play Wonderful with kids, dogs, and cats — naps side‑by‑side with his furry foster siblings Easygoing couch potato ready for cozy TV nights Great on a leash and brings gentle energy to playtime Loves being around people and may bark a bit when they leave Devoted, cuddly sidekick looking for a patient, loving family   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Neyo is about 5 years old. He very smart. He's overweight but he has loss 2lbs since I have had him. He will follow you everywhere and only leaves you to eat or go outside to do his business. He only barks when someone's at the door. He will overeat and eat anything that he can find. He still plays like a puppy sometimes. I have 3 dogs and they are so jealous it makes it hard for him to get the attention he deserves. I want him to have a wonderful life that unfortunately I can't give him. 6 months ago my sister called saying her coworker was getting a divorce and couldn't take him with her. I should have said no but I didn't want him to end up in the animal shelter. My dogs are old 12,14,15 so they tolerate him but he's always follow me around never with them. I'm a full-time caregiver for my disabled husband and I work 2 jobs. I cried about this and I know he deserves so much more than I can give him. I call him phat-phat but he will answer to whatever you name him. Thank you

Story
Meet Ewok — a 14lb black Shih Tzu mix with the shape and charm of an adorable little sack of potatoes. At approximately 10 years old, he may be a senior by age, but his spirit definitely didn’t get the memo. Ewok is sweet, loving, and still full of surprising puppy-like energy. He’s good with other dogs, crate trained, mostly house trained, and heartworm negative. Ewok would thrive in a home where he can enjoy nice daily walks to help regain his figure and a fenced yard where he can happily zoom around and burn off some of that joyful energy. Whether he’s waddling beside you on a walk, curled up nearby for a nap, or trotting around like he owns the place, Ewok brings a perfect mix of cozy companionship and playful charm. He’s ready to spend his golden years being loved exactly as he deserves.

Story
Meet Otto — 8 pounds of pure charm packed into one prancing, pocket-sized pup. Otto is the kind of dog who turns heads wherever he goes, not because he demands attention, but because of his sweet little strut and quiet confidence. He’s dog-friendly, enjoys the company of other pups, and would do well in a home with a canine companion or as your tiny sidekick. He does have a heart murmur that requires daily medication. He’s housebroken as long as he gets regular trips outside, and he’s been doing great with a consistent routine. Otto recently met two young children who were respectful and calm around him, and true to form, he simply observed and went about his business — he’s not phased, just politely uninterested. Otto isn’t high-maintenance or overly needy. He’s content to prance around, keep you company, and live his best low-key life right by your side. If you’re looking for a small dog with a gentle spirit, good manners, and just the right amount of personality, Otto might be your perfect fit!
