This pet was brought in as a stray and will NOT be available for adoption through our program. All stray animals brought in are posted on the gallery to hopefully be reunited with their families. Each pet is evaluated upon arrival, and throughout their stay, at the Animal Center and we do our best to place the animal in the setting most appropriate for them. Sometimes, they may be better served through one of our Transfer Partners due to the intervention needed, ongoing care required or a quieter setting for that individual. We want our animals to put their best paw forward. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Gertrude or Gerti for short is an adorable and sweet senior gal. She was surrendered by her owner after personal medical expenses became too much. Gertrude is currently undergoing treatment for her skin, ears and eye issues. She is a dream on a walk, with dogs, with people, you name it she's perfect for it. She originally was not a fan of her eye and ear medications and it took a little finessing to complete those. She is already feeling so much better as she has been super social and playful with anyone she has interacted with. She is realizing that the medications are not actually hurting her and feeling better so she has been doing well with her eye medications already so I know it will not take much longer to for her to understand that only good things are coming from people giving her these weird things. She will have a lifelong eye and skin medication, She came with matting and extremely overgrown nails into her pads, her little feet are still swollen and she has a foot soak a few times a week for the wounds that were inflicted. She adores all attention so she loves all the grooming. She was a little wiggly for nails originally but hey, who wouldn't with the pain she was in before. She is absolutely soaking up all the love and attention she is getting. She will need someone knowledgeable in administering various medications for dogs. Frodo and Bilbo are a bonded pair and we will not separate them. They were found dumped together and based on how they sleep, they have always been together. Frodo is sweet and comes around quicker to humans than Bilbo - Bilbo will wait to see what Frodo thinks and then act accordingly! They both do very well with dogs of all sizes and are very submissive to other dogs with strong opinions. They also do not mind kitty friends. They are kind of perfect.
