Story
!!Meet Hobbes!! After meeting with multiple applicants and even being adopted briefly, we've discovered that while people find Hobbes adorable, we may need to clarify a few things a bit more strongly. Hobbes was surrendered after spending his first year in a home that offered little structure or attention. He was part of a litter meant to be sold by a casual breeder, then left behind with an elderly family member when it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. Hobbes had never even been given a name during that first year. Despite his beginning, he's a very intelligent and affectionate dog who gets along so well with all other animals. He will need a home committed to continuing normal training and socialization though. And he may take time to warm up to new people. Due to his young age, Hobbes has his active spurts (zoomies), but also LOVES couch time next to his human friends. While he's inherently a very good natured dog, he is nervous with strangers and can remain that way until he gets to know someone. He is completely worth the time and warms up quickly, but an effort has to be put forth to get to that step. His first experience with housetraining, walking with a leash on, and meaningful interaction with people began in his foster home about two months ago. Hobbes picked up leash walking quickly, but will still run circles around you and get his leash twisted up, which may in turn startle him. He is picking up housetraining, but will still have accidents in the house if his cue isn't noticed right away. ** The biggest impediment to his adoption though, is that he experiences separation anxiety when left kenneled and he knows people are home. His reaction to being without humans is constant barking which will resolve after about 15 minutes, until he realizes people are back home. This can become an issue quickly in an apartment or situation where neighbors are close. A new home would have to continue to work with him. Lastly, Hoobes is a Shih Tzu mix. He looks like a Shih, but with longer legs and a longer body. His coat will need periodic grooming (4 times a year minimum) and he may need a mild sedative from his veterinarian prior to each appointment until he becomes more comfortable with it all. He is neutered, heartworm tested and vaccinated. Appointments to meet him will be scheduled for those who apply to adopt him once it's established the home may be a good fit for him. Story
Pebble is a sweet girl who needs to be housetrained. She was purchased from a breeder in 2023. Her birthdate is January 24, 2023. She is around 18 pounds. She lives with two other dogs. She plays with them and toys. However, because of her resource guarding of treats and attention/closeness with her human, she needs to be the only dog.She is weary of strangers and will hide or possibly bark. She may bark or jump around if she sees a dog outside while walking with her on a leash. She has learned to use the bathroom in the house via varous methods I have tried over the last few years. I unfortuantely, have not been consistent enough with using any method. This has caused her to need a restart on any form of housetraining method her new parent prefers.I have her vet care records. I believe she is due or close to being due for her annual review and vaccinations. Please feel free to ask me any questions that I have not answered in these notes.

Story
Buddy Edward is a middle-aged dude with a beer gut - we are working on his weight! He is the happiest, fattest, little Shih Tzu 'around' - he snorts like a bulldog and waddles! He came to rescue at 18 lbs and has been told by our Vet his bloodwork looks great, but his weight is a concern and obesity will cause problems. His foster has him on a diet, special kibble and only one meal a day. Buddy has curly white and tan fur. He had bald spots due to skin infections which have grown back. Due to breed - in addition to exercise, will require extensive grooming! Regular trips to the Salon *Rescue does not complete DNA testing. Breed is based on documentation provided from the original owner and Vet clinic who saw him prior to rescue. Buddy is fostered with cats, small dogs and big dogs. He loves attention and sitting on his foster mom's lap. He is leash trained and potty trained. Loves car rides and 'going anywhere. This breed has a Life Expectancy is 10-15 years. We are seeking a committed family for this piglet. Buddy came to rescue with two dog siblings after his elderly owners could not afford to care for them and taken to a small shelter. The Animal Control Officer contacted CCR and requested help - the dogs were neglected, dirty and not housetrained. They were clearly loved but owners started to struggle to care for themselves and the pets. Buddy has more housetraining than his younger dog friends. Buddy is now up to date on vaccines, dewormed for gut health, microchipped and neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and is on prevention. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee ($550.00) includes transport options to PNW (WA, UT, ID), Midwest (MN, WI, MI, OH, IL, IN) or select New England States (NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT) by pet transport partners. Due to Buster's size - he is eligible for travel with Southwest Airlines (Houston to any major airport approved by SWAAT) Canadian adopters must drive to the meet locations in USA. Email to Apply! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mia is what is called a "Daisy Dog", a designer breed. "Daisy Dogs" were bred in the 1960's from a Poodle, Shih Tzu, and Bichon to create the 'perfect' dog.   Mia is a sweet 9-year-old "Daisy" dog.  She is very affectionate and gentle.  Mia is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
