Pepper 10 months old is a very well behaved puppy. He loves to be cuddled and snuggled. He will follow you around from room to room. When you go away you do have to put him in his kennel. He cannot eat any chicken products it makes him sick. He is on blue buffalo salmon dog food that seems to be the only thing he can tolerate. We give him no treats that contain no chicken or chicken byproduct. He rarely barks he is all around a good boy.

Bennie came to us from Detroit Animal Care and Control after being found as a stray. He’s an 11-pound Shih Tzu mix with a big personality packed into a tiny body. Bennie is neutered, microchipped, has his rabies vaccine, and is fully up to date on all his other vaccines — ready to start his next chapter! He’s your typical small dog who believes personal space is overrated. His foster mom reports that he follows her everywhere, sleeps with her, and would happily cuddle 24/7 if allowed. He’s okay using his crate as a safe space as long as his humans are within sight, but he’s not a fan of being crated when people leave the house or go to bed — and he’s pretty vocal about sharing that opinion. For that reason, we would not recommend a home with shared walls like an apartment or condo. Bennie currently lives with a cat in his foster home and does chase it. It might be playful, but to be safe, we’re recommending a no-cat home. We don’t yet know how he does with other dogs.

Rupert is the sweetest little old gentleman, simply searching for a forever lap to call his own. He was found recently as a stray and, heartbreakingly, no one came looking for him. That’s the part we can’t quite wrap our heads around. Rupert was clearly loved at some point, and for many years. A tiny senior who can’t see or hear very well does not just wander miles from home. It doesn’t add up.What we do know is this: Rupert deserves the softest landing imaginable. No senior dog should spend their golden years in a loud, overwhelming shelter. So we are determined to find him the very best retirement home, the kind with warm blankets, gentle hands, and a lap that is always available.Rupert has the sweetest, most easygoing personality. He isn’t bothered by new friends. He isn’t asking for much. He just wants to be held and reminded that he’s safe.Despite his limited vision and the usual signs of aging, Rupert is in great health. He may not be the youngest pup on the block, but he has a lifetime of love stored up, ready to give to someone very special.

Sammy's life wasn't the greatest when he arrived in the rescue. At only 2 years old he is a retired puppy mill dog. He currently weights about 20 lbs. His life was spent living in a kennel pumping out puppies for the mill owner. When he was no longer needed, he was discarded. We pulled him into the rescue to start him on a brand-new life! According to his foster he "lives life on his terms". He will require another doggy friend or two in his new home to help him succeed with living in a real "home" . He does seem to prefer men over women. Sammy will require a fully fenced yard (more than 4' tall) to keep him safe as he will escape if given the opportunity! He has typical puppy mill behavior - not too sure of strangers at first - is mostly afraid of everything new. He is good on a leash, does not like a crate, and has very few/rare potty accidents! He does not live with children and being a mill dog it would be best with no children in the home. He does live with cats, dogs and farm animals and does very well with them. Patience is the key to Sammy's world...If you feel you have that and would love to give this very deserving pup a new chance in life, please follow the link below for his adoption application. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
