From the moment we saw her sweet little face and adorable underbite, we were smitten — and the name “Mugsy” felt like the perfect fit for a girl with such a cute little mug. She is a 2.5-year-old Shih Tzu with soft grey and white fur, weighing about 10 pounds. This tiny lady may be small, but she has a wonderfully curious and quietly brave spirit. Mugsy was rescued from a commercial breeding program where she had never experienced kindness or love. When she first arrived, she was completely shut down. Slowly, with patience and gentleness — and thanks to her natural curiosity — she has begun to blossom. Today, she is a hopeful, sweet little girl who is learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Mugsy thrives with a slow, gentle approach. Sudden movements or fast approaches can startle her, so she needs a calm home where patience and understanding are part of everyday life. She loves treats and will sometimes take one from your hand — we continue to work on building her confidence and trust, and she makes small, beautiful strides every day. She is generally a quiet dog. She may give an alert bark if someone unfamiliar is nearby, but she settles quickly. On walks, Mugsy happily trots along behind you with no pulling (unless she hits the brakes for a bathroom break!). She usually takes care of business early in the walk and does so reliably. When Mugsy was rescued, her coat had to be shaved very short due to severe matting and neglect. As her soft fur grows back in, she will require regular brushing and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks. During her spay preparation, her skin was reactive to clippers, so her groomer will need to be mindful of her sensitive skin. Mugsy is doing very well with house training. She keeps her crate clean and waits to go outside. She goes out first thing in the morning after cuddles and usually potties right away. She typically has one bowel movement per day, often in the evening. She does not yet know how to signal when she needs to go out, but if you watch closely, you’ll see her become a little restless. With consistency, she will continue to improve. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. During the day, she is crated when left alone for her safety. She may make a little noise, though it’s hard to say whether that’s just in response to my own dogs chatting when I’m out. She has just found her voice and does howl when she feels threatened but is easily distracted from barking. She is a chewer, so, you'll need to provide several appropriate chewing choices. She likes her chew toys and its so nice for her to now have this option for a good chew. She would like to explore all different kinds of chew toy options. Mugsy has been a wonderful travel companion. She calmly sits or lies down in her tethered car seat and handles car rides beautifully. She currently lives with two small dogs. She eats and sleeps alongside them and even tries to initiate play. She would likely do well in a home with another calm dog or as a cherished only dog. She has not been tested with cats, though we do expect she will be just fine with a dog savvy cat. Because Mugsy is still gaining confidence, a home with older, calm children (over 10yrs of age) but an adult only home would be best for her. Fast movements and unpredictable behaviour will overwhelm her. She is still learning how to “be a dog” and is just beginning to explore play. She would like a quiet and calm home in which to flourish. We continue to help Mugsy adjust to home life. The television no longer bothers her and house noises no longer startle her. She would benefit from positive, gentle obedience training to build confidence, strengthen recall, and help her continue blossoming. Mugsy is up to date on her vaccinations, had a great recent vet check, and recovered beautifully from her spay surgery. More than anything, Mugsy is looking for someone to love. She would thrive in a quiet, moderately active home where she can devote herself to her person or couple. She is a tender-hearted, loving little girl who simply wants a safe place to belong — and a family to call her own. Story
Panda is 13 year old, 14 pound Shih tzu who came into our rescue when her owner passed away. Panda is a very sweet, calm girl who enjoys her walks, rides well in the car and loves to eat.  She can jump up on the couch but does not do the seven stairs up or down in her foster home. Panda is housetrained but will use a pee pad. She doesn’t seem to mind the snow but is not a fan of the rain or the very cold weather. Living with 3 other foster dogs Panda fits right in. She gets along with all the dogs and is very gentle when taking her treats.    We are still learning about Panda’s personality and how she adjusts to new situations.  So far it’s been an easy transition for her.   If you think Panda is the one for you, please fill in an application for our review.  January 28, 2026, 10:31 am

Story
QUICK FACTS  Name: Juicy Age: 2 years old Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Shih Tzu mix (potentially pug mix)  Color: White, Brown, Black Weight: 6kg / 13.2lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed    MY RESCUE STORY  I was once roaming the streets, doing my best to survive on my own. Thankfully, kind rescuers stepped in and gave me a chance at safety. Although that chapter didn’t last long, my story wasn’t over yet. My luck hadn’t run out—I’m now safe at a care facility, patiently waiting for the beautiful new chapter ahead with my forever family.    MY HEALTH  • All vaccinations up-to-date • Spayed & healthy with no health issues    MY PERSONALITY  I absolutely love people—and I’m even cuter in person! I may have given birth to five puppies, but I still have the sweetest baby face. I’m truly a people’s pup and thrive on human attention and affection. I have a big appetite and am very food-motivated, which makes me eager to learn and easy to train. One of my favorite games is playing chase—I love pretending you can’t quite catch me as I zoom around with excitement. It’s all part of my playful, joyful personality!    MY SOCIAL SKILLS  · With People: I love greeting new people and soaking up affection and pets! I’m comfortable being picked up and will even show my belly when we first meet—it’s my way of saying hello and showing trust. I haven’t had much experience with children under 13 yet, but with my friendly and gentle nature, I’m confident I would do well with dog-savvy, respectful kids. · With Dogs: I’m friendly with my dog friends too! I enjoy greeting new pups and love spending time playing with them. Playtime with my furry buddies is always one of the best parts of my day! · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit!    ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY  I have a moderate energy level – I love spending time outside for play and adventures, and afterwards, I enjoy cozying up inside for some well-deserved snuggles and relaxation.    TRAINING & HABITS  I walk nicely on leash and do a great job following my handler’s lead. I don’t guard my food around people or other dogs, and I know how to relax calmly in my kennel. I’m generally a very quiet girl, though I may give a little bark when I’m hoping for attention. I potty both indoors (using a pee pad) and outdoors like a good girl!    MY IDEAL HOME  I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever    SPECIAL NOTES  I just know my perfect family is out there — one who will cherish me for the sweet, playful, and loving girl I am. I’m super cute (even cuter in person!), smart, and full of charm. I bring so much joy and personality wherever I go! One of my favorite games is playing chase — I’ll zoom around with the happiest little grin, just waiting for you to join in the fun. With me in your life, there will be endless laughter, love, and playful moments every single day!   Juicy's Youtube Playlist    Apply to foster or adopt: https://www.welcomedogkorea.org  For Inquiries: info@welcomedogkorea.com ##2663496##
