This precious 14-year-old Shih Tzu came to us as a stray in heartbreaking condition. She is blind, and the fur around her eyes was so severely matted that it took hours of gentle, careful work just to reveal them. Despite everything she has endured, she has shown nothing but quiet strength and a gentle spirit. She suffers from severe hip dysplasia and has multiple mammary masses. Sadly, she is not a candidate for surgery due to damage to her heart and lungs from heartworms. Because of this, she has been placed on hospice care. While she is not adoptable, she is safe and cherished in a loving hospice home where she receives comfort, pain management, and all the affection she deserves. Our goal is to make her golden months—and hopefully years—as peaceful and comfortable as possible. Donations made in her honor will go directly toward her ongoing medical care, medications, and daily comfort. She was surrendered along with her housemate Wilbur when their elderly family moved into an assisted living facility. Charlotte enjoys being part of the action, but her favorite role is professional cuddle companion. She’s calm, affectionate, and content to soak up love at home, making her a wonderful match for a family who values cozy moments and quiet companionship. She does well with other dogs, cats, and kids, and fits in smoothly with just about any household. She is up to date on her vetting, and as a distinguished older lady, she does have a few medical issues that are currently being addressed by the rescue. Her care plan is in place, and the rescue will be happy to share details, so her future family feels fully supported. Meet Mack — Our Golden-Hearted Little Gentleman Mack is a senior Shih Tzu, estimated to be around 12 years young, and he is fully embracing his well-earned “retirement era.” He’s soft, gentle, and happiest when he’s close to his people. This sweet boy loves everyone he meets. Truly. If you are in the house, Mack believes he should be right there with you — supervising, snoozing nearby, or quietly keeping you company. He’s not demanding… he just finds comfort in togetherness. Mack still has a playful spark, especially when it comes to his beloved raggedy tennis ball. He’ll happily toss it around and entertain himself like the independent little gentleman he is.
