Story
Mac is an 13 pound, 11-year-old Shih Tzu/Yorkie Mix with the softest fur. His mama went into the hospital and left Mac in the care of her best friend. Hismama’s last words were “Thank God Vivian has Mac.” His mama loved him until her last breath. Unfortunately, Vivian could not keep Mac, so she reached out to a local shelter in San Marcos, TX. One of the Animal Control Officers is good friends with one of CAMO’s fosters, so Mac bypassed a shelter and into a loving home in San Antonio where he is fitting in wonderfully with his foster brothers and sisters. Mac was loved and spoiled by his mama. He is a very friendly outgoing dog that just wants to be next to his person. The first night in his foster home, he was put in a crate to sleep. He wasn’t having any of that. He found his spot at the foot of the bed and that is where he has been ever since. He is out with the other dogs during the workday and enjoys being outside. He does pull on the leash so a harness would be best, so he doesn’t choke himself or cause collapsing trachea. He has not had any accidents in the house but wears a belly band while his family is at work. Mac was matted on his belly and back legs. Brushing through the mats was too painful, so some of his fur had to be shaved and was very cooperative. Mac has the cutest little face and ears; he also needed a bang trim so he could see better. He does have cataracts but seems to see just fine. The rest of his body is fluffy and has the signature curly Shih Tzu tail. He was a champ in the bath and dried very quickly in the warm Texas weather. Mac likes to play with the other dogs; however, it is unknown how he is with kids or cats. He has such a sweet demeanor; I would tend to believe he would get along with them as well. The only two times he barked was when he was in the crate and wanted out and when he wanted up on a lap. He’s a sweet boy that deserves to spend the rest of his golden years with his person. Mac is up to date on all his vaccinations, has Proheart 12 (12 month heartworm prevention), Bravecto (3 month flea and tick prevention),microchipped and neutered. Adoption fee $200 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs. EIN # 46-5486022

Story
Willow Rose is an 8-year-old, 11.5-pound Shih Tzu with a personality just as beautiful as her name. Although she cannot see the world around her, she has mastered the art of being calm, gentle, and quietly present. Her favorite pastime is snoozing the day away or curling up right beside her person on the sofa while they work. Willow is blind, and that means she needs an adopter who understands that learning a new home’s layout will take time, maybe even months. Accidents will happen until she gets her bearings, and even then she may miss the mark on occasion. If you can be patient with her, she will reward you with endless quiet companionship. She gets along well with other dogs, doesn’t try to leap off furniture since she is smart enough to know her limits, and is as low-maintenance as they come. Willow isn’t perfect; she would prefer you keep the fancy rugs rolled up, and she is not a fan of grass, but she is perfect for someone who values peace, gentleness, and the unconditional love of a little dog who just wants to be by your side. If you have the patience to help Willow navigate her world, you will discover a loyal, easygoing companion who will make your house feel like home. Adoption fee is: $100.00 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Story
Buttercup is a gentle, low-key senior (+10) Shih Tzu who’s all about peace, quiet, and the sedentary life. She is looking for her (chill) human with whom she can spend the remaining years of her life. She is mostly blind and deaf. She had an eye removed and mammary tumors removed. Her foster says “she’s a special Buttercup.” She is sweet and chill. She is NOT destructive or a barker. She’s independent. Her ideal day would be relaxing on the couch next to you -you’ll need to help her up as she is not a jumper either. Buttercup is easy to manage. She gets along with other dogs and cats. She is crate trained. She is also house trained as long as you stick to a consistent schedule, otherwise she’ll have an accident. She knows how to use a doggy doorbell and will nudge it with her nose to let you know she has to go out. She will also wear a diaper as long as you put it on while she is up and about. She’s great on a leash but is slow and doesn't like walks. She would rather relax by your side. She doesn’t care for toys but she loves blankets and bunching them up. She also loves to mix up where she sleeps and changes her spot every night. She is on a special diet of salmon and rice for her sensitive skin. She waits patiently for her food and even lets other dogs take their turn first. Buttercup likes treats and dental sticks. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate friend who will fill your days with quiet joy, Buttercup is ready to give you her whole heart. Her adoption fee is $100 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Story
Meet Oreo Theodore — a tiny gentleman with a big personality wrapped up in a handsome black-and-white coat. This 4-year-old Shih Tzu weighs just 12 pounds and is looking for a calm, adult-only home where he can settle in at his own pace and build trust slowly. Oreo Theodore came to us as a transfer from another shelter, and while change has been hard on him, we’ve already seen glimpses of the loyal companion hiding underneath his cautious exterior. He can be nervous in new situations and may react defensively when overwhelmed, so he will need an experienced adopter who understands dog body language and is committed to giving him patience, structure, and time to decompress. The good news? Oreo Theodore is very food motivated, and treats are the quickest way to his heart. Positive reinforcement, consistency, and a predictable routine will help him continue making progress and feeling safe. Once he trusts you, he enjoys companionship and the comfort of having his people nearby. Because of his sensitive nature, Oreo Theodore is seeking an adult-only home with no young children. He would do best in a quieter environment where expectations are low at first and where he can move forward at his own speed. If you believe that some of the best relationships are built on patience, understanding, and earned trust, Oreo Theodore may be the special little dog you’ve been waiting for. Adoption fee is: $400 ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com. Adoption fees are variable. Trevor John is a healthy two year old, 14 lbs, b lack and white Shih Tzu mix. He’s crate trained, house trained, and knows how to use a doggie door. He walks well on a leash and doesn’t mind baths. He‘s a quiet boy who plays with toys and chews indoors. Outdoors Trevor turns into an alert squirrel and bird chaser. He gets along with other dogs. Trevor is reserved towards new people and will need a little time and space to feel comfortable. He is a love bug at heart.
