Meet Pumpkin & Ginger – Bonded Shih Tzu Sisters Seeking Their Forever Home Pumpkin (black, 9 years old) and Ginger (pewter, 8 years old) are tiny but mighty senior Shih Tzu's, each weighing around 10 lbs. These inseparable sisters are looking for a loving home where they can stay together. We welcomed Pumpkin and Ginger a few months ago after their previous owners made the difficult decision to surrender them. Both girls have chronic skin and ear issues, which are common in Shih Tzu's. Thanks to the great care from our vet and foster family, they’re doing much better—but they’ll need ongoing support to stay comfortable and healthy. Their care routine includes: • Weekly medicated baths (can be done at home). Sometimes 2x a week if there is a flare-up • Regular use of topical medicated sprays/wipes • Occasional ear cleanings • Consistent grooming and haircuts • Special diet/supplements Ginger is fairly cooperative with her care, while Pumpkin has a bit more sass—but both are sweet and affectionate. They both had recent dental work, are spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and microchipped. They’re great eaters but require a special, chicken-free diet to help manage their skin from the inside out. Their meals include variations of fish-based kibble, peas, carrots, green beans, ground beef, Greek yogurt, omega oil, and probiotics—easy to prepare and not prescription-based. These ladies love (and sometimes demand) the royal treatment: lap time, naps, gentle brushing, sunbathing, short strolls, and lounging on soft beds. They’re mostly housebroken, crate-trained, travel well in the car, show no interest in the resident kitty, get along with other calm dogs, sleep well, and can be trusted alone at home. They will do best in a patient, quiet home with limited stairs, a small fenced yard (both prefer to potty off the leash), and a regular routine. Because of their size and special needs, small children and energetic dogs may not be the best fit in their new home. The cutest thing about them is that they both have an underbite and stick their tongues out. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to two loving, low-key companions who thrive on affection and routine, Pumpkin and Ginger would love to meet you. You can fill out an application on our website www.homesfurhounds.org

Story
Gizmo and Widget are ready for their forever home! When these cute, friendly, little Shih-Tzu arrived they had been shaved down by the shelter due to a flea infestation, and they had kennel cough. So they had a rough start, but were troopers through it all. They have been nothing but sweet, friendly, lovable little snuggle bugs. They finally are feeling great, their hair is growing back and they are ready to find a home. We think Gizmo (white) is 6 and Widget (black) is 7 years old. They came in together and do LOVE to play together so we do want to keep them together. We know it won't be easy finding someone looking for two dogs, but we hope the right family is out there. They are doing very well in their foster home. Still working on potty training but making good progress. They don't pee in the house during the day and at night they are wearing belly bands but they have been dry for the last week or so. They play together and enjoy each other's company. They get along with other dogs well and walk on a leash very well. They seem to like their walks. They have also discovered toys and will take them all out of the box and play with every toy. They are neutered, UTD on shots, microchipped and negative for heartworms. We hope someone out there is willing to open their home to two sweet boys. For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org They are located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet Bryer !! This dapper little gentleman came to us in rough shape. He’s made a huge transformation and is ready for his new life. He arrived here and was terribly matted. His fur had urine and feces matted into it. It seems like he may have been left crated standing for long periods of times in his own waste. Thanks to Fluff N Buff who volunteered to groom him for us. He looks amazing and feels so much better now! Bryer is an approx. 5 year old male. He weighs 13.5 pounds and is full grown. We are unsure of his exact breed. Probably a few small breeds like shihtzu, Maltese, or bichon mixed in. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. Bryer is really a great little dog. His entire personality has changed since he arrived. He was referred to as “Mr. Grumpy” at the shelter and now he is the happiest little guy. He was likely in pain without many positive human experiences. Now he is all about exploring the good life. He is a happy sweet boy that loves life. Given what his past must have been like he is trying his best with training. He is good on car rides. He is leash trained but can be a bit wild and hyper to go explore everything. With the crate he is quiet, he goes in well, eats and sleeps in his crate with no problem. The one major issue he has is that he will go potty in his crate as if he is supposed to. He was likely made to stay crated all the time without an opportunity to go out. Due to this he doesn’t seem to understand the concept of going outside and keeping his crate clean. He has had improvement since arriving here but he is not potty trained. Anyone wanting to adopt this guy will have to be patient and understanding with him as he has to relearn his new expectations. Bryer has not been fostered with kids but recently met a 7 year old and did really well. He loves playing so as long as kids don’t treat him like a toy he will likely do well. He is great with other dogs of all sizes and loves to play. He has not met any cats yet. He can be a humper of other dogs. His upcoming neuter will likely resolve that but until then your dogs will need to be tolerant of that behavior. He currently has a medium energy level. He likes to be exploring the yard or doing zoomies around it. He does really like being outside. He also loves to play with other dogs. He will likely calm some as he adjusts to the freedom of not being stuck in the crate. Right now he is seizing the opportunity to frolic at every chance he gets LOL. Bryer has not had any trouble sharing food, treats or toys with humans. He doesn’t like other dogs approaching him while he is eating but he is happy to eat in his crate to have some privacy. This guy is looking for someone to spoil him and give him the good life he has been denied so far. If you are willing to work with his potty training he is going to make an excellent companion for you in return. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@hmail.com or for more pics and faster response visit our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application. ‼️
