Story
Mina Paws is a rare and beautiful black Shih Tzu girl who is estimated to be about 10 years old, though you might never guess it by looking at her bright expression and those surprisingly beautiful teeth. This sweet little lady weighs about 17 pounds and has recently begun a new chapter in life after losing the only home she had ever known.   Sadly, when her owner passed away, Mina’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The remaining family members left her outside for a period of time, and this gentle girl went from being someone’s companion to being neglected and forgotten. By the time rescue was able to step in, Mina was in very poor condition. Her coat had thinned drastically from untreated skin issues, her nails had grown so long they were nearly curling into her paw pads, and she was understandably frightened and confused. But even through all of that, Mina’s sweet spirit was still there waiting to shine again.   With proper veterinary care, treatment for her skin, and the kindness of a loving foster home, Mina has been transforming day by day. Her hair has almost completely grown back in, her skin is healing beautifully, and she is beginning to look like the lovely Shih Tzu girl she was born to be. Even more importantly, her heart is healing too.   Mina can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, which is understandable after everything she has been through. But once she feels safe, her affectionate personality blossoms. She loves to cuddle, happily settling into a warm lap where she feels most content. She has even started to rediscover the joy of play as she slowly lets go of the sadness from her past. It’s truly wonderful to watch her greet each new day with a little more confidence and happiness.   Mina Paws also gets along beautifully with other animals. She lives peacefully with both dogs and cats and enjoys their quiet companionship. She would do well in a calm home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished.   This sweet senior girl is fully vetted and ready for the next chapter of her life. She has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and has even had a complete senior bloodwork panel to ensure she is healthy moving forward.  All Mina wants now is a gentle home where she will never again have to wonder if she is loved.   If you are interested in giving this precious girl the safe and happy future she deserves, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.   Mina Paws is currently in Nashville, TN, and we also transport every to families in the northeastern region.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 5, 2026, 2:34 pm

Story
Meet Pumpkin & Ginger – Bonded Shih Tzu Sisters Seeking Their Forever Home Pumpkin (black, 9 years old) and Ginger (pewter, 8 years old) are tiny but mighty senior Shih Tzu's, each weighing around 10 lbs. These inseparable sisters are looking for a loving home where they can stay together. We welcomed Pumpkin and Ginger a few months ago after their previous owners made the difficult decision to surrender them. Both girls have chronic skin and ear issues, which are common in Shih Tzu's. Thanks to the great care from our vet and foster family, they’re doing much better—but they’ll need ongoing support to stay comfortable and healthy. Their care routine includes: • Weekly medicated baths (can be done at home). Sometimes 2x a week if there is a flare-up • Regular use of topical medicated sprays/wipes • Occasional ear cleanings • Consistent grooming and haircuts • Special diet/supplements Ginger is fairly cooperative with her care, while Pumpkin has a bit more sass—but both are sweet and affectionate. They both had recent dental work, are spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives, and microchipped. They’re great eaters but require a special, chicken-free diet to help manage their skin from the inside out. Their meals include variations of fish-based kibble, peas, carrots, green beans, ground beef, Greek yogurt, omega oil, and probiotics—easy to prepare and not prescription-based. These ladies love (and sometimes demand) the royal treatment: lap time, naps, gentle brushing, sunbathing, short strolls, and lounging on soft beds. They’re mostly housebroken, crate-trained, travel well in the car, show no interest in the resident kitty, get along with other calm dogs, sleep well, and can be trusted alone at home. They will do best in a patient, quiet home with limited stairs, a small fenced yard (both prefer to potty off the leash), and a regular routine. Because of their size and special needs, small children and energetic dogs may not be the best fit in their new home. The cutest thing about them is that they both have an underbite and stick their tongues out. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to two loving, low-key companions who thrive on affection and routine, Pumpkin and Ginger would love to meet you. You can fill out an application on our website www.homesfurhounds.org

Story
I have had Sasha since she was 4 months old. She was bought at a pet store in Webster, Massachusetts in 2012. She is a great loving dog but is pretty independent. She gets along very well with other dogs and cats. Her eyesight and hearing has started to diminish but it doesn't seem to slow her down. Her "brother" Cooper is a year younger than her and she follows his lead.

Story
PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT AN APPLICATION WITHOUT READING ENTIRELY! SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY! Gia is an 8-year-old spayed Shih Tzu with the gentlest soul and a heart full of love. She’s incredibly well-mannered, enjoys greeting people and other dogs on walks, and still has plenty of energy for her age. Her favorite things are cuddles, belly rubs, and simply being close to her people. At this time, Gia is currently experiencing some incontinence and wearing diapers due to a bacterial infection and possible bladder stones that are currently being treated through a prescription diet and medications. Outside of this medical issue, She is house-trained. Gia deserves a loving home with someone who can continue to keep up with her medical care as X-rays and further testing may be needed in the near future. In return, she will offer unwavering companionship, affection, and endless love. She’s a truly special girl who just needs a chance and a compassionate heart willing to care for her. 🐶💕
