The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! She spent much of her life as a kennel dog used for breeding, quietly doing what was expected of her. Her last litter was born in October 2025, and she has not been with a male since. Now, her breeding days are behind her—and she’s ready for a different kind of life, one filled with comfort, kindness, and love. Despite her past, Raven is incredibly sweet and friendly. She enjoys human companionship and truly loves sitting on laps, soaking up affection she likely didn’t get enough of before. She has a calm, gentle presence and seems happiest when she’s close to her person. Raven is up to date on her vaccines, with the exception of her rabies shot, which she will still need. She will also be freshly bathed and groomed before heading to her new home—when and if that loving home comes to pass. Raven is looking for someone who understands that she’s starting a new chapter later in life and is willing to offer patience, softness, and a warm lap to land on. She’s given a lot already. Tommy Pickle is the kind of dog who doesn’t just love you… he chooses you. Around two years old, this adorable little guy has a heart that bonds deeply and completely. Tommy is currently thriving in a foster home with another dog and does wonderfully — they cuddle, play, and keep each other company. He’s also a very chill little guy at heart.
