Story
Meet Benji Bear! Benji Bear is a sweet, one-year-old Shih Tzu mix with a gentle heart and a whole lot of potential. He’s looking for a patient, experienced dog owner who understands that some pups need a little extra time to feel safe and confident. At first, Benji Bear may be shy, but give him space and kindness, and you’ll soon discover the happy boy beneath the fluff—one who greets you with a wagging tail, a joyful little dance, and endless gratitude. He absolutely loves head scratches and will lean right in once he trusts you. Benji Bear can live with other dogs, though he’s just as content being your one-and-only companion. He would thrive in an adult-only home or with a family that has older, respectful kids. This sweet boy is ready for a home filled with warmth, love, and patience. Once he bonds with his person, he bonds deeply. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will blossom under your care, Benji Bear may be the perfect match. 🐾💛 Application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/690913d68e9aa22a2d0a57c5 If you have any questions or interested in Benji, email his coordinator at Kathleen@threelittlepittiesrescue.org We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:   Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!   Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. Story
(01/04/26) FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Haunter! Haunter is a 4-year-old, 15 lb Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix with the cutest little underbite and a soft, fluffy coat. He’ll need a home committed to regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best. Haunter came to us from a difficult past where he missed out on early socialization, and because of that, the outside world can feel overwhelming for him. He is very fearful in unfamiliar environments, especially with loud noises and busy surroundings, and he will need continued support learning the basics—including leash walking—at his own pace. For this reason, Haunter will do best in a standalone home with a fully fenced yard. Apartments or high-traffic living situations would not be a good fit for him. At heart, Haunter is a gentle, loving boy who just wants to feel safe. He loves being close to his person, enjoys being held, and prefers a calm, predictable lifestyle. He has not shown to be a high-energy or playful dog and would thrive in a quiet home where he can move at his own pace while slowly building confidence with the world. Haunter would do well as an only dog with an adopter committed to patient, positive socialization, or in a home with a laid-back, calm dog companion who can peacefully coexist and help him feel more secure. He will need a patient, understanding adopter—ideally someone experienced with shy or fearful dogs—who can help him learn that the world doesn’t have to be scary. This sweet boy has so much love to give and is looking for a soft place to land with someone who will give him the time, structure, and compassion he deserves. Haunter is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Meet Pecan 🤎 Pecan is a Shih Tzu–Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a tiny body. He’s a great eater and never misses a meal, and he’s also the most vocal of the bunch. If he has something to say, you’ll hear it. He loves to play hard with his littermates, then crash just as hard, usually claiming the coziest spot at the bottom of the puppy pile. Pecan is social, expressive, and full of charm, always letting you know what he wants and how he’s feeling. He’d be a wonderful fit for a home that enjoys a talkative, playful pup with a lot of character and a big heart. If you’re looking for a puppy who brings energy, cuddles, and a little extra personality into your life, Pecan is ready to do just that.

Story
Pooh Bear is a Shih Tzu/Bichon Frise puppy. He is very playful and enjoys running and interacting with other dogs. He is so soft and sweet. He likes to chew, so plenty of good toys are important. He usually uses pee pads and is learning to go outside. He is not keen on walking on a leash, but is improving every day. He is an endless source of entertainment. He is a born interior decorator. He likes to move blankets, cotton bath mats, and he likes to flip the dog beds over. The other dogs are accommodating and will sleep on the upside down beds. He sometimes sleeps on his back and just looks up at you if he wakes up. He is adorable and charming. It would be impossible not to fall in love with him.
