Story
If Sweet Pea could write her own adoption profile, she'd probably start with an apology:"Sorry about my shelter audition. I swear I'm much better at home."And honestly? She'd be right.Sweet Pea is one of those cats who simply doesn't show her true self in the shelter environment. The hustle, bustle, unfamiliar sounds, and constant activity just aren't her thing. If you met her here at the Centre, you might walk away thinking she's quiet, reserved, or even a little uninterested. But after spending the last three weeks in one of our wonderful foster homes, we've discovered the real Sweet Pea - and she's absolutely lovely. In a home, Sweet Pea blossoms into the sweet, gentle girl we've always hoped was hiding in there. While she's a little shy when meeting new people, once she settles in, she shows her affectionate side, enjoys playtime, and never says no to a tasty treat. She's the kind of cat who just needs a little patience and understanding before she lets her personality shine.Sweet Pea is looking for an adopter who understands that some animals need a chance to decompress before showing who they truly are. If you're willing to look beyond a shelter first impression, you'll be rewarded with a wonderful companion who's been waiting for someone to see the real her.We would love nothing more than to find Sweet Pea her forever family as soon as possible. If you've been thinking about adding a feline friend to your home, maybe Sweet Pea is the one you've been waiting for. And if you're not looking to adopt right now, please share her story. Somewhere out there is the person who's meant for Sweet Pea - we just need to help them find her. 💕https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/Sweet Pea, spayed female, 1 year, ID# 624422 Primary Color: Cream Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 2.77 Age: 1yrs 1mths 2wks

🐾 Meet Skye: Your Next Adventure Companion! FOR ADOPTION: Skye is a beautiful, 3-year-old female Siamese mix on the lookout for an interactive forever family. Skye is an active girl who loves exploring her environment and keeping her mind sharp. While she isn’t overly cuddly, she truly enjoys getting pets and wants to be right in the middle of whatever her humans are doing. She will thrive with a family that loves finding creative ways to mentally stimulate their pets. If you are into building cardboard box castles, creating fun treat-dispensing puzzles, or playing with wand toys and laser pointers, Skye could be your perfect match! 🏡 Her Ideal Home & Social Preferences Skye was originally adopted from us as a kitten but was recently returned because her high prey drive led her to hunt the family's pet birds, despite multiple attempts to keep them apart. Because of this, she needs a strictly bird-free home. However, she does wonderfully with other animals and lived with both cats and dogs in her previous home: Cats: She isn't overly playful with other felines, but she is happy to share her space with calm, respectful cat roommates. Dogs: She has been very non-reactive toward the dogs we have tested her with and could easily live with a cat-friendly dog. Kids: Skye prefers playtime and companionship over being held. She does very well with children who understand her boundaries, but she would not enjoy a home with young kids who constantly want to carry her around. 🌲 Lifestyle & Outdoor Adventures Skye has been an indoor-only cat her entire life and would do well continuing that lifestyle. She is not a candidate for an indoor/outdoor life, as her hunting skills would wreak havoc on the local wild bird population! With that said, she would absolutely love a secure catio, and she has the perfect personality to adjust well to harness-and-leash training for supervised outdoor adventures. 🩺 Health & Adoption Info Skye is already spayed, fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on parasite control. If you’ve been looking for a fun, engaging, and smart new companion, apply today for a chance to meet Skye! #NWASSkye

Not good with kids, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
This stunning seal point kitty with the bright blue eyes is Zoey. She is a Siamese diva who is looking for just the right home to suit her needs. Someone who lives a laid back lifestyle in a quiet home will be ideal. Zoey's new person should be willing to provide small and gentle amounts of affection on Zoey's terms (not terribly often) and also will follow a routine feeding regimen (much to Zoey's dismay). This girl knows what she wants when she wants it. She's independent and sassy. Although Zoey is definitely not a lap cat and does not often ask for attention, she does like to be around people on her own terms. She was slow to come around, but now spends quite a bit of time with her fosters and will seek them out (although her tolerance for being touched or petted hasn't really increased.) When Zoey is feeling receptive, she allows some gentle scratching under her chin and on the back of her neck, as well as a few pets. If you continue petting Zoey past her limit, she will let you know that she's had enough. She does enjoy being talked to but prefers if you keep your hands to yourself. She has become interested in playing on a routine basis, usually in the evening and sometimes in the morning also. She isn't generally a fast moving cat so it can be almost like playing in slow motion, but she does obviously enjoy it and is entertained. About 10-15 minutes a session is usually enough. Despite Zoey's low interest level in affection, she is often found waiting in the hall to greet her foster family if they've been out of the house for any period of time. Zoey is a low maintenance cat who doesn't need a large area to run around in. She has the zoomies occasionally, but rarely runs anywhere otherwise. Like any cat, she likes looking out the window but really wants an easy access route. This girl is quite lazy! What Zoey really wants is to get right into bed with you; right between the sheets. She also enjoys sleeping right under a light blanket on top of a bed (preferably the bed her people use.) She's quirky, what can we say? She is also a cat that enjoys having lots of surfaces to scratch. Trimming her nails isn't something Zoey enjoys, so having lots of both horizontal and vertical surfaces for her to scratch on is important. We're unsure why, but Zoey seems to gravitate towards the men in her foster family more so than the women (although she is happy to spend time around both men and women.) Her foster mom (despite being very gentle with Zoey) also seems to attract more sass from miss diva than her foster dad does. As well, Zoey uses her mouth to communicate with her foster mom if she thinks it's time to eat or play. She does not use her mouth on her foster dad. We don't know why she's more comfortable with men than women in general, but it's an interesting thing to note. Zoey will do best in a quiet home with 1 or 2 calm, cat-experienced adults. It will be really important that Zoey's new family can read her body language to know when it's appropriate to give affection and when she needs space. Zoey has no experience with other animals (cats or dogs) and doesn't give the impression she's looking for company. She will not be a suitable cat for a home with children. Since she's fairly independent, it probably doesn't matter too much whether Zoey's new family is home for much of the day or works. Thus far, Zoey has been used to living with retired folks who are home most of the day. Zoey was surrendered to us because her senior owners were moving into a care home. The change was very difficult for her and it took her a long time to settle in. Therefore, we are looking for a home for Zoey where she is unlikely to have to endure another move at any point in her future. She turned 5 years old in August 2025, so we hope that she has another 10-15 years + ahead of her. Zoey gets very stressed in the care, so at this time we are only considering homes for her that are in the Greater Victoria/Peninsula area (south of Duncan.) If you'd like to apply to adopt Zoey, please visit the adoption section of our website at https://victoriapets.ca/adoption process/.
