Until recently, he’d never known love or safety, but now he’s ready for both. Gentle and shy, ROONEY is calm, affectionate, and happiest curled up nearby. He gets along with other gentle dogs and would thrive in a quiet home where he can blossom at his own pace. Fully grown, low-maintenance, and house-trained, ROONEY is ready to find the love he's craved his whole life. We'd prefer ROONEY in a very quiet household with no young children or hyper dogs. He'd probably do very well with cats and other animals. Meet Ozzy, an 18-pound shihtzu/poodle mix. Our vet estimates his age as three to four years old. Ozzy is the ultimate cuddle bug — his favorite place in the world is right on your lap, showering you with endless love and kisses. He walks wonderfully on a leash and even lifts his legs up to help you put his harness on (how adorable is that?). He loves following his foster mom anywhere she goes around the house and is always looking up at her with those gorgeous puppy dog eyes. He is very affectionate and just wants to find his forever home that will treat him like the little prince he is! Ozzy is an absolute sweetheart who adores people, he is amazing with cats, and gets along well with dogs. He prefers to have a little personal space from other dogs so he would do best in a home with calm dogs who respect his space. He will do a little mini growl if a dog is getting too rambunctious and in his personal space, but he has never shown any aggression towards another dog. He’s crate-trained, knows how to use a doggy door, and is doing great with his potty training. With a little positive reinforcement (and plenty of treats), he’s eager to please and quick to learn. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, Ozzy is your guy!

Story

Comet is an approximately six-year-old Maltese. A friendly dog, he is a mixture of spunky, loving, and sassy with a medium energy level. Comet gets along with all dogs, male, female, large, medium and small. He would love to have a buddy or two in his home to play with and show him the way. Weighing in at nine pounds, he is currently being fostered with two big dogs and gets along with both. Comet has mastered potty training with no accidents in the last month. He loves going for walks and is excellent on leash. He enjoys going on adventures to new places and taking car rides, too. Comet likes hanging out with his people and is a good boy with visitors coming to the house. Comet does not annoyingly bark, but he does have a little little growl he sometimes uses to tell you he wants to be pet and sometimes to tell you he doesn't want to be bothered. It should not be mistaken as something bad, rather just him being sassy. At night he sleeps quietly in his dog bed. (Sometimes he wants to come up on his foster mom's bed to sleep and she does allow it.) Unfortunately, the people who had Comet before he entered the shelter did not take very good care of him and he had severe periodontal disease. The rescue had to remove all of his teeth as a result. He eats wet food and can eat small, soft treats. Comet loves to sunbathe on warm days and romp around in the yard with his doggie friends. Toys are not a huge interest, but he will occasionally play with them. It's very cute when he gets the zoomies and runs through the house with excitement. Comet is a great little dog who really wants to please and be part of a family. Could that family be yours?
