To meet ROONEY please contact Suzanna: adoptions@startrescue.org ROONEY is a 9 year old, 10lb silky Yorkie mix with a soft golden coat and an even softer heart. Until recently, he’d never known love or safety, but now he’s ready for both. Gentle and shy, ROONEY is calm, affectionate, and happiest curled up nearby. He gets along with other gentle dogs and would thrive in a quiet home where he can blossom at his own pace. Fully grown, low-maintenance, and house-trained, ROONEY is ready to find the love he's craved his whole life. We'd prefer ROONEY in a very quiet household with no young children or hyper dogs. He'd probably do very well with cats and other animals. ROONEY is: - House-trained - Up to date on vaccines - Great with calm dogs - Low maintenance, high sweetness Give ROONEY the love he’s never had — and gain a loyal friend for life. To meet ROONEY please contact Suzanna: adoptions@startrescue.org

Story
Meet Bootz! She’s an adorable and sweet 3-month-old, 4 lb Maltese/Terrier mix. Bootz comes from Bakersfield. Her mama hadn’t been spayed and ended up having five puppies from several litters—so one dog became six. Feeling overwhelmed, her previous owner decided to surrender the entire little family. The city shelter in Bakersfield is so overcrowded and stretched beyond its limits, and thousands of unwanted dogs are euthanized each year simply because there isn’t enough space. Stories like Bootz’s are why spaying and neutering pets is so important and why we rescue hundreds of dogs from Bakersfield every year. Despite her rough start, Bootz is full of sunshine. She is ready for a forever home who will give her all the love and snuggles she deserves! More from her foster: She never stops moving! Out of the litter, she loves people the most—such a sweet girl. She enjoys spending time in the yard and playing outside. She wants to be by your side every step of the way! A true companion, she connects well with other dogs and is warming up to both people and kids. -------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Story
Noel was found outside a 7-Eleven in Inglewood with no microchip, alone, scared, and covered in fleas. A Good Samaritan took her in and searched for an owner. After her 10-day stray hold was complete, it had become clear that Noel had been dumped. Shelter Hope heard her story and welcomed her with open arms. After a vet visit and a much needed grooming, Noel is feeling much more comfortable. Noel is a tiny 8-year-old Shih Tzu mix, weighing just 8 lbs. She has an ulcer in one eye and will need daily eye medication for both eyes for life, but it doesn’t slow down her sweet, loving nature. She loves pets, cuddles, and lap time, but is sensitive about being lifted off the ground. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Noel is ready for a patient, loving home where she can relax, feel safe, and be adored. -------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Story
James Bone 007 is on a mission, not to save the world, but to find his forever home! This dashing 9-year-old, 13 lb Maltese-Pom mix was found wandering the streets of Compton after an ICE raid, likely separated from his owner. With no microchip and no way to trace his family, James spent a month in foster care while neighbors searched for his owner. Then, he was brought to us at Shelter Hope in the hopes of finding him a wonderful new home. Since moving in with his foster family, James has proven himself to be a true gentleman. His foster says he seems house-trained (not a single accident!) and will politely sniff at the door when he needs to go out. He walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys leisurely strolls in the park, and, like any alert little secret agent, keeps an eye on the world around him, sometimes barking at other dogs or out the window. James is a wonderful companion with excellent manners. He adores children, warms up easily to adults, and loves being near his humans, though he’s also independent enough to settle quietly on his own. He enjoys snuggles and pets but isn’t overly clingy, and he’ll happily follow you from room to room, waiting patiently by your side. Though his foster noticed that his hearing may not be the best, James doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. He’s thriving, happy, and ready to share his sweet, steady presence with a family who will love him. James Bone 007 is ready for his greatest adventure yet, finding a forever family to call his own! ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers.
