Until recently, he’d never known love or safety, but now he’s ready for both. Gentle and shy, ROONEY is calm, affectionate, and happiest curled up nearby. He gets along with other gentle dogs and would thrive in a quiet home where he can blossom at his own pace. Fully grown, low-maintenance, and house-trained, ROONEY is ready to find the love he's craved his whole life. We'd prefer ROONEY in a very quiet household with no young children or hyper dogs. He'd probably do very well with cats and other animals. He adores everyone he meets, loves spending time outside, and would thrive in a home with a safe yard where he can hang out with you while you garden or relax on the patio. He also gets along wonderfully with playful dogs, so a furry companion would be ideal for him. **COMMITTED FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME NEEDED...OR BETTER YET...A FOREVER HOME! please read his story... Dumped at the shelter with back leg deformities.....he was so scared and alone! Meet our handsome boy Cosmo! He is a 2 year old, 16lb, Maltipoo that was dumped at a local shelter with back leg deformities. The shelter reached out to us to see if we could help by bringing him into our rescue and we said yes! Cosmo has been to the vet and a very good orthopedic specialist who basically feels that he was born like this and surgery on his legs is only a 60% chance of success. For now, with our vets input, we feel that he is doing so fine on his own that we are holding off on surgery and he may never need it....all we know is this little guy can get around just fine! He can keep up with all his doggy friends like you wouldn't believe! He cannot go on long walks though as it could put a lot of stress on his legs, but he absolutely LOVES the backyard and has so much fun just walking and trotting along with his friends. We are looking for a committed foster home, foster to adopt home, or better yet....a forever home for our sweet boy! Cosmo needs a single level home with no deep stairs. He is fine with a couple porch stairs, but not more than that. A home with owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal as he absolutely loves being around people. He could be your one and only dog in the home getting all the attention or he could go in a home with a sweet, calm dog. He does not do well with dominant dogs that will growl or bark at him. Cosmo is getting the hang of getting potty trained and needs a patient and loving home that will be understanding if he has an accident. He is a quick learner and will get it in no time! Cosmo is a young dog who we feel didn't get the love and attention in his prior home, so we want to find him the best forever home out there! Cosmo is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered We only adopt in Southern California as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial are required. PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION INTRODUCING DOLBY….and another tragic story to report 🙁 At 12 lbs, 4 yrs old and tri colored, this very special Shih Tzu boy was given to a good Samaritan who took him because she wanted to keep him out of the shelter when his humans were moving. She was told he had a hernia…but in fact it was a testicular tumor. He had never been neutered and the tumor grew to be the size of a baseball before she handed him over to us — never disclosing this information. We got him to our vet and were very worried initially — how such a sweet, easygoing, loving dog could end up this way. GOOD NEWS while the tumor was malignant, it was the type that the oncologist says doesn’t metastasize, so the cancer was gone! We have done a needle biopsy to clear the lymph nodes and everything was negative — which for us was very positive! Dolby’s foster reports that he is one of the easiest going pups he has ever experienced and is a joy to be around. He was playing voraciously with his foster buddy despite the fact that he had an abdomen full of stitches from his surgery! They are still working on his potty training but report he is getting it! He is not hyper but loves to play…not super interested in toys at this point. Loves belly rubs as all dogs do…and is a super kissy lover! He is not yappy or barky but will say hello to the other dogs walking on the street! Not an aggressive bone in his body. Because of his fantastic nature, he could probably go into almost any home – but preferably one with another dog and a family who will cherish him. He is very people and dog oriented and whomever adopts him will be bringing in a wonderful family member. Does that sound like you? He will not be available until the beginning of November.
