Story
This sweet pup is a 7-year-old rescue who has been loved since she was rescued as a puppy. Over the years, she has grown into a calm, laid-back companion with a gentle and affectionate personality. She enjoys the simple things in life—soft beds, quiet moments, and lots of cuddles, and loves being close to her people. She has an easygoing temperament that makes her a wonderful fit for a peaceful, low-key home where she can feel safe and comfortable. Unfortunately, she has developed dental issues that require care her current family is unable to afford. With heavy hearts, they are looking for a new home where she can receive the treatment she needs and continue to live a happy life. She is seeking a kind, compassionate adopter and will return that care with endless affection and loyalty.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Do Not Apply for a pet with PENDING in the name bar.  They have been matched with a home, but not adopted yet. Kiwi was born 5/30/25. She is sweet and sassy, a perfect little girl! She is friendly and social with everyone. She likes playing with her toys. She is great with older children. She needs work on housetraining. She is smart and catches on quickly. Adoption fee is 950.00. Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a  $20.00  donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Your application will remain on file for a year. Applications are available at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com under forms/application. Donation should be made through Paypal at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com. We are only available by phone after you have an approved application. All pets are located in the southeast. Transport is available to the NE for an additional $300.00 transport fee. We do not adopt in MA, RI due to import laws. Residents MUST pick up in CT. All dogs over 8 months will be spayed or neutered and heartworm tested. All dogs and puppies have been vaccinated,microchipped, dewormed and treated for other parasites. Please read the FAQ on our website for additional information. Adoption fees are cash or money order only. Hi, I'm Phylo! I'm a 14-lb Shih Tzu blend and I'm just 1 year old. I bring puppy energy, my megawatt smile, and my playful nature to every situation. I'm looking for a gentle family that can help me overcome my shyness and is ready for lots of playtime and adventure.  Favorite Things: Toys! Chew toys, soft toys, big toys, little toys, Phylo loves them all. He still has the puppy instinct to chew and loves playtime and chances to interact with humans and dogs.  Training & Manners: Phylo is a smart cookie! He is also smart for cookies. As his food-based name implies, he is very food-motivated. He is housetrained if let out frequently and has already learned "sit" and "wait". He still needs more practice leash walking, but he will thrive in a home where he can get more training.  Health & Care: Phylo is a healthy boy! He will just need his monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog. He will also need regular grooming every few months to keep his beautiful Shih Tzu coat in good condition.  Other Animals: Phylo requires a home with another dog to show him the ropes and keep him company. He's good with large dogs. He hasn't been observed around cats, but given his curiosity levels, his foster doesn't think that they would get along. Children: This shy sweetheart would do best in a home with kind, understanding, older children only (ages 8+).  Ideal Home: Phylo is all go-go-go! Due to his puppy energy and playfulness, he requires a single-family home with a securely fenced yard.   Overall: Phylo will make a wonderful companion for a loving family who can give him all the attention, playtime, and support he deserves.   Is Phylo the fido you've been looking for?
