Story
Sweet with a good mix of calm and fun...Thats our Chloe! Chloe is a 6/7 year old, female, Lhasa/Shih Tzu mix that is about 17lbs. This pretty girl was rescued from a hoarding situation where 17 dogs were kept in covered crates 22 hours a day. We got all 17 dogs out, some went to our rescue partners and we held onto 5 of them. Chloe is an amazing dog who is so sweet and friendly with people...not one bit of aggression. She is a little selective with dogs, but does have a best friend that she could be adopted with her best friend Tali, a 3 year old, 16lb Maltese mix. We will possibly consider adopting Chloe out as an "only" dog if we feel it's the right home with owners that are home most of the day and will continue socializing her with other dogs frequently. She is great on leash and a good eater. She loves affection, but is not needy and would be fine with children 12 years old and older. She does require a cytopoint (allergy) shot as needed which is usually ever 2-3 months and she does require full grooming every 6 weeks, so that should be taken into consideration when inquiring. Chloe has been through a lot and we promised her that we would find her the best and most loving forever home out there! Chloe is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles Areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at: Gia@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020 Chloe's adoption fee is $500.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET DUSTIN…a kissy face, 13 lb, cream colored, 4.5 yr old ShihTzu Poodle, who came from the streets with his homeless mom. This poor baby has not had an easy life. His mom didn’t even know how old he was (she knew his birthday 12/21, just wrong year!) When he arrived, he was a little disoriented but within a few hours, he knew he was safe. He’s a good eater, very affectionate and wants to be with you all the time. He is easy to take to brunch or wherever you go…he wants to please and be your guy! When you first leave him, he doesn’t like it and will bark — but having another dog in the home who he can bond to, along with a loving family and kids over 8 yrs old, makes it easier for him to know he isn’t being abandoned. Definitely will need a buddy — human and canine! Dustin is good on a leash but definitely could use some training! He will bark at people and other dogs, so needs to be distracted. He likes to do his business outside for the most part, but could use practice. His favorite place to do #2 is against a tree or in the bushes! If he can’t get outside, he will use a pp pad for the most part. We never guarantee anyone is potty trained, but he is smart and wants to please, so we believe he will be easy to train. Little Dustin needs a home where his family will be there to reassure him he will always have roof over his head. Dustin would love a yard, another dog as a companion and of course, you. So far, he is good with everyone…dogs, people, kids. Would you allow him to be good with you and your family? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET KAI! A 3 yr old, tan/white, 14.5 lb, adorable Shih Tzu, who came from the streets of San Bernardino with no history. We learned that the foster who found him crated him for 20 hours a day for a week, and by the time he came to us, he had developed more anxiety and fear. Fortunately, we found a trainer who helped get him through most of his issues. However, she was unable to finish his training, so he is still a bit reactive to other dogs. We are working on this and once he is okay, he basically ignores them. Kai is a smart, friendly dog who does his best with regular exercise and dedicated attention — and he needs a patient, experienced home that will give him time to acclimate. If he gets bored or is not stimulated he will revert to bad behavior. Insufficient physical activity can lead to heightened anxiety, so he needs an active home that will engage him. Kai gets super excited when you come home or it’s feeding time! He is a foodie and is very motivated by treats! Kai is OK interacting with calm dogs and is friendly with people and children after an introduction. Encounters with dogs on the street and/or leashed require ongoing reinforcement, as he becomes overly excited and will dart toward them, sometimes resulting in a nip. However, once allowed to familiarize himself, sniff and settle, he doesn’t pay much attention to them. Treats definitely help! He just needs parameters and he will be an outstanding citizen! While we don’t always recommend crates, some dogs consider them a “safe cave,” especially if that is how they are trained. Initially, Kai had barking issues, which have definitely settled, and he can be comfortable with another dog (of his choosing) who he can bond to. He has specific commands (YES!!) that he readily responds to, which should always be a part of your relationship. Kai’s favorite and never changing thing is to collect squeaky toys and empty water bottles! He is comfortable engaging in training, but may demonstrate nipping behavior when teased or overly stimulated. He’s like a puppy at times, teething on your hands/fingers. He can be very moody (at least with me!) His guarding issues with toys has dissipated (people and dogs) for the most part, but not with food. Take it slow and watch his body language. He’ll let you know. If you hear a growl, back off! An active home, with another small, playful pup and a firm yet gentle guidance, patience, and ample acclimation time has proven to be the ticket for Kai. While he is motivated by food and toys, his main drive is to please people. Could this be your next family member? He’s available now (to the right home!) Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling.
