Story
Xander was found locked inside a cage on the side of a freeway with two other dogs. Hundreds of people drove by and did nothing, but one kind woman stopped to help. Her name is Anna and we thank her for saving their loves.
They had no collars, tags, or microchips. We believe the dogs had been trapped there for days without food, water, or anyone looking out for them. Now they are safe and thriving at Shelter Hope.
Xander is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu weighing about 10 pounds.
Of the three, he was in the roughest shape. His fur was severely matted and filthy, and he was limping. We also took him in for a dental, and they had to remove 5 of his teeth. He has arthritis in his back legs, but it hasn’t dampened his joyful spirit. He is incredibly sweet, playful, and happy, with a calm, easygoing personality. Xander gets along well with other dogs, is friendly, and is truly a pleasure to be around, despite everything he has endured.
Now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for adoption, Xander is looking for a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished just as he deserves!

Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only.
Be ready to adopt:
If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation.
More on our process:
Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!
