Story
Little Lucie is such a love! This beautiful little girl was found abandoned, tied to a tree in the middle of the night. She was very neglected but has already started to recover. Lucie is a little shy at first but very gentle and she loves to sit in your lap and snuggle. Lucie likes to take walks in the neighborhood or just hang out by your side. She's fine with calm dogs and we think, she would do fine with a cat also. Come and meet this little love bug! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET FREDDIE…and yes, his mom is Snookie! This petite, sweet, funny, 4 yr old, 10 lb, gray/brown, Shih Tzu Terrier (yes, mom is a Shih Tzu) needs to find a new home because his human was on life support (and has since passed) 🙁 He came to us with his mom (Pic #4) and his sister Pinky. Freddie is a very well natured boy. Loves everyone, men/women and other dogs. He is hilarious zooming around the house and yard with his canine pal, George. There is no question, while Freddie can be a couch potato (perched, of course), he loves other dogs and wants one of his own — young and playful! He is uber affectionate, kissy, loves toys; we think he is even good with cats (he doesn’t chase squirrels). His potty training, with many walks outside, has been good — only one accident — but no guarantees at your house! Freddie loves to look outside and may even whimper to get out and play! This soft, non shedding, little scruffy is a real sweetheart and deserves whatever his heart desires. That might be you…are you a fit? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MOKI and LOKI….and while we didn’t name them, they are hilarious and the names seem to suit them! We’re not sure if this duo are brothers, but they are definitely a bonded pair. Loki is a little smaller, at 10 lbs, white/tan, 4 yrs old and Maltese Shih Tzu (the underbite is a dead giveaway and they have the same eyes); Moki is 11 lbs, tri colored, 4 yr old Shih Tzu. When they were brought to the shelter, they were a mess and the shelter shaved them (see Pic 4). This pair was placed in a home and returned after two weeks. Unfortunately, it was not the right fit. Like siblings, they occasionally get on each other’s nerves and Moki can get over stimulated, and they fight. They can also get overstimulated on walks when they see other dogs/people, so this needs to be handled. They are better with very calm environments, people and activity. We decided there were more pros than cons and have chosen not to split them up. They need a home that can manage them, as we have, without issue. They will definitely need training…actually, the family will need it also! Almost as soon as they arrived, they bonded to the foster. They were giving us love and kisses and rolling all over us like they had been our dogs for years! Obviously, from the way they looked at the shelter, these two characters did not had a wonderful life. Moki was so matted he was unrecognizable; Loki looks pretty good in this picture, but looks are deceiving. He was a matted, smelly mess! Moki is the more outgoing/dominant of the two. He loves toys, great on walks and does his business outside (but no promises he won’t mark to remind you he has arrived!). Definitely not shy! Loki isn’t much of a trickster, he follows Moki’s lead and has come around quickly. He likes to chase after toys, but Moki gets there first and Loki is mostly okay with that (except when he isn’t)! Neither of them like to be ignored and they will let you know by barking for your attention, so they need a home where people will be around for them. Are you up for the challenge of two mini mighty pups who want to be your forever kids? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET CHURRO….and we named him that because he is sweet as sugar! (but don’t get between him and his food!) This little 5 yr old, 12 lb, tan/black, scruffy but very soft ShihTzu Terrier (non shedding) is a character. Those big brown eyes will capture your heart in a NY minute! He was turned in by his owner’s children because they were ill and Churro wasn’t getting the attention he deserved. He lived half the time outside, the other half inside. I didn’t get the impression that they were dog people, as he really hadn’t had any training…but he is very smart! He stopped marking in the dog room in a week, but he does still have an accident or two in the house, so he just needs to know where to go. He is good on a leash but he does pull, so he would benefit from training. Sometimes he is extremely assertive on the street with other dogs, so he needs to be introduced slowly — and he is protective of his person, so the same with strangers (although he is 99% of the time wonderful). Churro is extremely playful with his roomie, sometimes a little too rough, so he needs to go to a home where he has a canine companion to play with him! Even bigger would be okay! Kids over 12+ yrs old would be welcomed. He is very food dominant and when it’s out…it’s his, so this needs to be observed at feeding time. Churro loves to cuddle and give you kisses to let you know how much he appreciates your attention. He is not a big barker and does not bark when you leave…but he’d love to sit at your feet or on your lap while you work…so maybe you have a place reserved for him? He’s waiting! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET MS. STELLA…a sweet (but at times a little fearful) 4.5 yr old, 12 lb, tan/black Shih Tzu mix. We’ve had several dogs with this coloring this year and we don’t know what the mix is, so you might have to do a DNA!! All we can say is she has not had it easy. Her family lost their home in a flood, she was staying with friends for several months and at the end of the day, the family had to give her up for a better life. They believed we could find it for her and we will!!! When given up, Stella had a horrible UTI and ended up needing bladder stone surgery as a result of bacteria. Surgery was successful and they should not reoccur. She is a big kisser — but not on your face (you’ll have to try peanut butter to get that result!). She can be independent but she would rather be snuggly and then go off to explore! She loves her walks, people, other dogs. We haven’t seen any engagement so far, so we believe she could be an only dog if you work from home and can give her a lot of attention. She is especially adoring when it comes to feeding time and she will eat almost anything …. including zucchini, lettuce, all treats and she loves french fries! Still a bit fearful when you go to pick her up if she doesn’t know you or you surprise her…but other than that, she is a gem! She will let out a little cry that might scare you silly!! She was wonderful at the groomers…seems to be potty trained, or will go on a pp pad if necessary, but we never guarantee! Her tummy was a little food sensitive when she arrived, but otherwise very food oriented. The perfect home for Stella will be one that will care for her properly, take her to the vet when needed, feed her good food and love her to pieces! Because of her fearfulness, we don’t believe she should go to a home with children, but over 12+ would probably be alright (if they are gentle). Does that sound like you? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION **PUPDATE: Tink is in training until October 1, so she will not be at adoptions until October 8 THIS IS TINK…aka Tinker, Stinker, Tinky, Cranky and, well, you get it! Tink is a tan/white with black tips, 12 lb, 4.5 yr old mix of Shih Tzu and Pekingese! Her story is sad…her senior human mom got her as a puppy and was told she was pure Shih Tzu. Nope — she does shed a tiny bit and those Payot sidelocks are a dead Pekingese giveaway! Tink’s human loved her to pieces and took wonderful care of her…but when she went blind, she was afraid to take Tink outside for fear she would ingest something she shouldn’t. So, Tink used PP pads mostly. Unfortunately, when mom went into assisted living, Tink couldn’t come, so she is now with us. On walks, she can be like a tornado chasing after anything that moves… big trucks, anyone on wheels and runners…so definitely will benefit from leash training. Tink has a big personality! A sweetheart except when she wants to be a stinker! It takes her a bit to get to know you, so she needs a ‘get acquainted period.’ Once she trusts you, when you are resting she will climb all over you like a billy goat and plop herself across your body to protect you! She will follow you everywhere and sits between your legs peeking out when you stop on a walk! Can be nippy when she feels threatened (she has bitten) or is guarding something. She will come to you and kiss you on the face, but doesn’t like you in her face. Does guard her food, so you need to be aware of this when handling her treats or food. Tink has found her voice and will bark for attention…and she is a big snorer! Tink is such a character you have to love her to pieces like we do. But she definitely needs training. Best home would be one where she gets a lot of attention, training to be a model citizen and love with parameters. Tink is more of a one-person dog, but she is okay with other dogs (doesn’t play) and multiple people. No kids please. An experienced, patient home that will work with her idiosyncrasies and learn to adapt, is what she needs. Once she loves you, she loves big, bonds like glue!! AND….she just started playing with toys!! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria.
