Story
SWEET & VERY HARD OF HEARING: Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 12 lbs. Hi, I'm Edna! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a new home. I enjoyed my time with the nice volunteers who showed me love and took great care of me while I was at the shelter. Now I'm in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my new family to come and adopt me. I hope to meet them very soon and charm them with my cuteness and laid-back nature! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and though I wasn't quite ready to play with them, I was interested and did not show any aggression, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let's meet! In my foster home, I simply ignore the dogs I come across while on our walks—even the ones that bark. / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids yet, but my foster things older calm kids would be best since I'm an older gal and don't hear well, so if you have kids like this, let's meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: When I was at the MM shelter, I was an absolute doll who was precious, friendly, sweet, and happy! I was also wonderful for my bath, brushing, and even a little hair-dryer time. I had the cutest happy, bouncy walk that is sure to make you smile! I enjoyed sitting with them on the bench out front and watching all the people go by. In my foster home, I'm showing everyone that I'm a sweet girl who loves being in the same room as my people, although I'm also quite independent. I think I just like knowing someone is nearby—even if I don't necessarily need you to entertain me! I can be cuddly, but I like my cuddles on my terms, thank you very much. I do have a bit of a stubborn streak, and while I'm hard of hearing, I can hear louder sounds, so a clap or talking loudly will usually get my attention. I can also be a little “grumpy” first thing in the morning or at bedtime—perhaps I'm simply not a morning dog, or maybe I take my beauty sleep very seriously! Once I'm up and about, though, I'm back to being my lovable self. /Energy level: 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I seem to know the hand signal for 'come', and Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so we can do some training together if you like. / My crate manners were good at the shelter. I sleep nicely at the foot of the bed in my foster home and so far, one of my foster parents has been home with me, so they haven't crated me during the day. I do sleep a lot, so they think I'd be fine in a crate, after the first few minutes. / My potty manners are improving on a very frequent take-out schedule, so I'll need a stay-at-home family member who can take me out frequently. Ask how this is coming along. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I'm happiest when I'm simply relaxing with my people. I enjoy being with both of my foster parents, getting lots of gentle pets, and exploring while I sniff around and check things out. Treats and peanut butter are yummy, and my foster puts my pill in peanut butter. I'm also perfectly content to spend plenty of time sleeping or resting nearby. I don't need a lot of excitement to be happy—I just enjoy having someone around to keep me company, and I'm sure we'll discover lots more things we like doing together in our new home! / I'm not a fan of fast movements, and because I'm hard of hearing, I can startle if someone approaches me too quickly. I'm not particularly interested in toys, and I'm not a big fan of spending lots of time outdoors except for short walks where I can take my time sniffing and exploring. And like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, and MM has done that for me. I have dry eyes and need cyclosporin drops twice a day. I comply with these (though I don't love them) when I'm wrapped in a little blanket and held by one person and another person drops the eye drops in my eyes. I'm also on an over-the-counter joint supplement that is good for all senior dogs. I'm a wonderful little dog looking for a great family that will be home a lot and will take great care of me.
