Story
Chester Black 2-year-old,15 Pound, Shih Tzu mix Looking for a gentle, understanding soul to call his forever person. Chester is a sweet, loving, little guy with a big heart and a strong desire to please the person he trusts. He’s playful, affectionate, and thrives on quiet companionship. He’s crate trained, potty trained (he rings a bell to go out!), and does great on a loose leash. Walks are definitely his jam. In addition, Chester has been trained and knows a lot of commands: sit, stay, wait, drop it, leave it, give paw, boop etc. He also loves toys and loves to play fetch. Like many small dogs with a rough start, Chester is still working on confidence. He can be fearful and territorial, especially with new people entering his space. He may become anxious, or show defensive behavior when strangers come into the home. Because of this, his foster strongly recommends a quiet, adult-only home possibly with a couple or a single adopter who has a calm, predictable routine. No children please. Chester would also do quite well with a work from home person - he will just lounge in his bed perfectly quiet and content. He is generally social and friendly with people and dogs he meets on walks. He just needs time and slow, respectful introductions to feel safe. He would also enjoy having another small dog in the family to play with. Who Chester is looking for: A patient, dog-savvy adopter who understands fear-based behavior Someone willing to give him time to warm up at his own pace A quiet household with a stable routine If you are a calm and kind hearted adult, who is ready to welcome a sweet, fearful, but full of potential little dog into your home, Chester Black is your man!
