You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Boise is a soft&#226&#128&#145hearted Skye Terrier with a long body, short legs, and an even longer list of reasons to love him. At home, he’s a calm, cuddly companion who spends most of his time snuggled up, observing the world around him with quiet curiosity. Snow is his happy place—he loves playing in it, eating it, and trotting through it like a little winter explorer. Boise is shy at first, but once he opens up, his personality blossoms into something wonderfully sweet and a little bit sassy. Home is his comfort zone, and he feels safest with gentle routines and familiar people. New places, loud noises, car rides, and overwhelming environments can be very stressful for him—he tends to shut down, shake, or need quiet time to decompress afterward. He’ll need a patient adopter who understands that progress for him comes in small, meaningful steps. He enjoys seafood and chicken flavors, plush toys, and the company of similar&#226&#128&#145sized dogs. He’s good in his crate, nearly potty trained with a schedule, and knows basic commands like Sit, Come, and Go Potty. Boise is not yet leash trained and is a flight risk, so a fenced yard is essential for his safety. He’s also more comfortable with women and may take longer to warm up to men. Boise doesn’t have many teeth, so softened kibble or some wet food helps him eat comfortably. Because of his long back and short legs, ramps or limited stairs will help protect his joints. Once Boise trusts you, he becomes incredibly loyal, gentle, and loving—a reminder that even dogs who have been through hard things can still be kind, patient, and full of heart. He will thrive with someone who can offer a calm home, steady reassurance, and the time he needs to feel truly safe. In return, he’ll be the sweetest, most devoted companion you could ask for. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
History: Elroy is a handsome fella who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi my name is Elroy! I was originally a breeder release and I am about 6 months old. I am a shih Tzu poodle mix and probably the cutest thing you'll ever see. Here's what you need to know about me: I am a little timid and shy but I absolutely adore my foster mom. When everyone else is gone. I love to play wrestle, get into mischief and give lots of snuggles and kisses. I'm the seriously the silliest little guy you'll ever meet. When I came to my foster mom's house it took me a day or so to get warmed up to her. I slept in my kennel and could come and go as I please next to the busy section of the house but I really liked my safe place. Now. I still go in my kennel when my mom's gone but I am in it less and less when I get to choose. I really love to be out and about but kind of on my own terms. I have a house that has four kids and lots of friends that are visiting and In-N-Out. This makes me nervous sometimes and I like to sit by Mom or go in my safe place when I need to. And when Mom is gone and the rest of the family is in charge of me then they usually will leave the leash on so it's easier to get me to go outside. I don't love the leash and I love being brought outside with a leash but I sure do love a walk on a leash. I'm kind of silly that way. I do really well with potty training and I'm starting to go by the door when I need to go outside. Sometimes I have an accident in the house but usually that's because I'm too busy playing outside to go to the bathroom and then I come in and have to go all of a sudden. I love toys. I love to go for walks and do really good on the leash. I'm looking for a house that would maybe be last people a little bit more calm and I do really well with other dogs of all sizes but when enough is enough I like to go and just snuggle with my mom. I really wish that everyone could see the amazing dog I am when it's just me and my mom and my foster dad, then I'm super silly, really cute snuggle buddy. I have baby Zumiez and Ive got the cutest little snaggle tooth that pops out when I'm mischievous. I don't chew on things that aren't for me even though I'm a puppy and can easily be redirected. Again, I am a little shy and I'm a little timid and it's going to take me time to warm up but giving the space and the right family I will get there. I probably would be the very happiest in a household that is quiet and a super confident resident dog that can show me how to do all the puppy things like sit.

Story
History: Little Tom is a handsome little fella who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon! A Note from the Foster: Little Tom is a bundle of energy who loves to run and play with his toys, tossing them on the floor and wrestling with them. He is officially ready to start his journey in finding his forever home and hopes to find them soon! He likes to play Alpha dog to my more passive female, but I do not have concerns of it being an issue with more confident dog friends, He loves being the center of attention and would do well as the only dog in the home. He would thrive in a home where his people are home a lot as he gets a bit anxious if left for long periods of time. Little Tom enjoys sitting in my lap or by my side to be snuggled and nap. At night, he prefers sleeping on the sofa or in my bed. Little Tom likes to have his voice heard and would not do well in a home with shared walls. I continue to work with him on barking and think that will improve as his confidence also improves. He is doing well with house training using puppy pads since his neuter surgery. He will need to work on going potty outside as his next step to being fully house trained. Little Tom enjoys going out on the deck to watch the animals in the back yard. He also loves to get his zoomies out by running around the house and chasing his tail. He’s cautious around new people, but warms up quickly when approached respectfully. Little Tom does well traveling in a car. He needs more practice learning to walk on a leash, and as the weather improves I am confident he will learn quickly. I have loved having him in my home as he is a very sweet little guy who loves being with his caretaker.

Story
History: Princess is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Princess, although my foster family calls me Peanut. My foster mom says I am a 10 pound bundle of sweetness. I’m very shy but I’m starting to understand that this new world is full of snuggles, warm beds and lots of good food. I like to be in the same room with my people and sit near them on the couch. I’d rather not be picked up, though. I sleep quietly in my kennel and keep it clean. As long as I can go outside regularly, I don’t have accidents in the house. I love being outside! I love to chase my foster brother around the yard, even though he’s three times bigger than me. And when we’re done playing, I like to snuggle on the couch with him and my even bigger brother. I’m very quiet. I love food! But I don’t like to eat when anyone is watching me and I don’t like to take treats from anyone’s hands. My foster mom is working with me to get past that so that I can learn things like going up and down stairs and walking on a leash. She says that will really open up my world, but it’s hard for me to trust people right now. I’m working on getting braver and my mom says I’m really making a lot of progress. I’ve come a long way in just a few weeks. She tells me all the time how wonderful I am; I’m starting to believe her. My foster mom and I hope I find a forever family who understands that I’m a timid girl and will give me as much time and patience as I need to get comfortable. We both think I’m a perfect fit for just the right family!
