You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending! DOB: 11/29/15 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Hi there, darling. I’m Jenni — a distinguished senior lady of the fabulous Lhasa Apso variety. Think less “old dog” and more “retired royalty with excellent hair.” Sure, I sleep a lot. Beauty rest is important when you look this good. But don’t let the naps fool you — I still get the occasional zoomie… well, more like a graceful wiggle with enthusiasm. Toys? Love them. People? Also love them. Lap space? Especially love that. Now, full disclosure: I previously lived with a tiny human. Let’s just say… I prefer my roommates potty-trained and able to respect personal space. So I’m currently accepting applications for a calm household without small children where I can enjoy my golden years in peace, luxury, and a well-curated nap schedule. I can be a smidge cautious at first. I like to scope things out. Conduct a vibe check. But give me a little time and I’ll promote you straight to BFF status. I’m loyal, devoted, and an expert-level snuggler. I won’t bark your ear off. In fact, I’m so quiet you might forget I’m there — until you look down and see a small, fluffy constant by your side. In a world full of chaos, I offer stability. Warmth. Soft snores. And unwavering companionship. All I need is one faithful human to share the couch — and maybe a toy or two.  Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
History and A Note from the Foster: Meet Shay, the most petite and charming Bichon you'll ever meet. She had a traumatic past and is working really hard to overcome that! When she first came into our home she would hide behind furniture and shake. We saw no signs of happiness and no signs of confidence. Shay has begun to blossom but will take a patient home to continue this progress. She is proving us wrong constantly and really is a happy gal! Shay has so many terrific qualities - crate trained and doesn't make a peep overnight, potty trained with consistent breaks, playful and goofy with other dogs and never aggressive with humans or other dogs. She is even starting to yip and play bow at me in the yard! I also get the most aggressive tail wag from her when I come home from work or let her out in the morning! She has not been around kids yet. While I know she would be gentle with them, they might scare her a bit if they chase her. Shay had a neglectful past which makes her fearful of humans. Her grooming and dental was also neglected for years. She did have 15 teeth pulled, but now she has the cutest snaggle tooth that her top lip is constantly getting caught on. It's one of my favorite things about her! Due to this she would love to eat wet food, or if that's not feasible you can soak her food in milk or water. She does take anxiety meds with her meals which will need to be continued as well. Her rust-colored fur around her paws and mouth is from nervous licking, however her nervous licking has really dwindled down! There are many "remedies" out there for rust colored fur. It's nothing bad, it just has to do with what's in her saliva. Some allergy testing might help as well! The perfect home for Shay MUST have: -No expectations for her. She may come out of her shell after 1 week or 1 year. It's impossible to know when (or if) she will become a "normal" dog. She may always be shy and progress isn't always linear. It has really been a blessing seeing her gain confidence and show joy. It's important to celebrate small successes! A home with experience with shy or shut down dogs is a huge bonus. She does not seek affection or touch from humans yet, however she has started to approach if I have a treat and beg for human food alongside the other dogs :) -Another dog (or two) around her size. She will look to your dog to not only be her safety blanket but also her teacher. Shay has 3 foster siblings. One is her size and shares her quiet temperament so they get along wonderfully and love to cuddle. The others are also the same size but a bit more aggressive with their play style and not quite the right fit for Shay long-term. Shay is always trying to play with her foster siblings! She play bows and spins in circles yipping in attempt to play. -A fenced in yard. Shay is still fearful of the leash and a walk is still too overstimulating. She loves to run around a fenced in yard as her primary source of exercise and is doing so fantastic with potty training! She has not had an accident inside in months. If you are looking for a quiet companion that needs some more patience and TLC then Shay is your girl. She really deserves the world and all we want to see is her be happy!

Story
History: Zipper is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Zipper is a Bichon breeder release. When I first picked him up, he was very fearful of the world. Each day though, he comes a little bit more out of his shell. In just a week, he has become comfortable in my house, and I can see the typical Bichon-like, happy personality coming through. He is happy whenever he can be with his people (or other dogs) in a safe space. His laid-back personality makes him easy to take care of, and he seems grateful to be in a home environment. He likes playing with my dogs, and is also happy to sleep on the couch. He doesn’t bark much and doesn’t like his crate. He sleeps at night in a dog bed in his own room without any problems. We are working on potty training. He wears a belly band, as he does have problems with marking. He is comfortable going out to go potty in the yard, and hasn't been interested in any walks so far.

Story
History: Kimmy is a super beautiful girl who was recently welcomed to rescue and will warm your heart. She is a pretty petite girl who would thrive in a quiet environment. A Note from the Foster: Meet Kimmy - a little gal with a lot of sass! Kimmy has been in our home since summer 2025 and has made quite a bit of progress, however it is clear that she was under socialized and most likely mistreated in the first half of her life. Undoing past trauma and teaching her how to trust will take a patient and understanding adopter to continue her progress. Kimmy is so funny. She is constantly making noises to communicate with us. She will huff and puff under her breath, make grumble noises or high pitched whining. To me this reminds me of Dory from Finding Nemo when she's doing her "whale call!" Kimmy has her own set of goofy noises. Kimmy lives with 2 resident dogs and 1 other foster dog. When she first arrived to our home she would not leave the other foster dog's side and hide in her kennel. Those two were bonded by their trauma and did not want to be separated. Kimmy relied on this other dog for safety and comfort. Over time she began to branch out and become part of the "pack" with our 2 resident dogs. She desperately wants to be part of the crew and feel accepted. We just see the wheels turning as she's watching our resident dogs do something. For example - our resident dogs sit at our feet while we are eating. Kimmy would watch from her kennel or the opposite side of the room. She did this for months. Eventually day by day she would watch from one inch closer, then one inch closer. Now she sits at our feet with the other pups! Another example is toys! Day after day I watched her watch our resident dogs stick their heads into the toy bin and chew on bones. She has just started to stick her head into the toy bin and chew on bones also! Careful about watching her play with a toy, though. She gets nervous if she's "caught" playing with a toy and will immediately stop. She just needs more time to learn this is a good behavior, not a bad one! Kimmy is skittish and does not seek human touch yet. She is a very curious gal and will follow us from room to room. However, petting her has to be her idea and she's not quite there yet. She will happily sit on the couch next to you but don't you dare move a muscle! Movement and loud noises are scary and will have her retreating off the couch (quickly!) and back to her safe space. We joke that she has two speeds - 0 and 100! She loves laying on the bed. She will sprint from her kennel in the morning to claim her spot on the bed! Kimmy has taken to foster dad more than foster mom. She happily lays on the bed next to him or at his feet. Foster dad is slowly working up to having Kimmy take a treat directly from his hand. We joke that Kimmy is a bit "boy crazy" because she also follows our male resident dog around as if he's the coolest dog in the whole world. She even lifts her leg to relieve herself like a boy! The perfect home for Kimmy must have: -Patience and understanding of shy/skittish dogs -Be quiet, predictable and have a routine to show her new rooms and activities are safe -A fenced in yard (she hears a door open from a mile away and will be at the door in a second. Safety is key) -Another small dog or two in the home. Your dog will be the best teacher for Kimmy and make an imprint better and faster than a human would! She is on two anxiety medications that would need to be continued with the guidance of your vet. They're rather inexpensive. Kimmy will teach you patience, bravery, and best of all how to give a good side eye! Is she your perfect match?
