Story
Meet Darla, a seven-year-old, 75-pound St. Bernard mix. This gentle giant had a rough start. She was found tied up outside the Maricopa County shelter for hours in the blazing June heat. Understandably, she was scared and reactive at first, but with patience and kindness, Darla has begun to show her true, affectionate self. Darla may be nervous when meeting new people, but give her a little time, and you’ll be rewarded with loyal companionship and leaning hugs that might knock you off balance (literally!). She adores scritches and pets, especially when she can press in close. Darla prefers the solo spotlight and would do best as your one-and-only pet. She walks well on a leash, is easy to handle, and would thrive in a calm, loving home where she can feel safe and appreciated. Her $150 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Darla, call 602-971-1334 or stop by Thursday–Saturday, 11am–4pm.

Story
Dirt is a 12–18-month-old Saint Bernard who is still growing into both his giant paws and his confidence. Now safe with Big Hearts for Big Breeds, this handsome young boy is looking for a patient family that will help him continue learning that the world is a safe place. Like many young Saint Bernards, Dirt has a gentle heart and a thoughtful nature. He does well with children and has shown himself to be non-reactive around other dogs. His compatibility with cats is currently unknown as we continue to learn more about him. Dirt can be shy and nervous around men when first meeting them, but with patience and kindness, he warms up and begins to show his sweet personality. True to his Saint Bernard roots, he also has a protective nature and appreciates slow, respectful introductions to new people entering the home. Once he understands that everyone is a friend, he settles in nicely. As a young giant-breed dog, Dirt will benefit from continued socialization, structure, and positive experiences that help build his confidence. With the right guidance, he has all the makings of a loyal, loving companion who will be deeply devoted to his family. If you're looking for a young Saint Bernard with a heart of gold and are willing to give him the time he needs to blossom, Dirt may be the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Frida is a fun-loving sweetheart. She thinks she is a small dog trapped in a big dog body. She loves cuddling on the couch and snuggling with you in bed. She is very active if you bring her outside, but she loves to hold down the rugs and couch just as much. She is a fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and absolutely loves watching cartoons or playing fetch with her stick or ball. Frida is a water baby and will get in any body of water she can including the shower if you let her. This big sweetheart loves kids and attention. She is truly like Nana from peter pan and just wants to be loved.

Story
Meet Connor! This boy lives for full body contact — and not always the snuggly kind. Connor loves to run, tackle, flop, and chase dogs of all sizes! Because of his love for bodychecking his opponents, Connor might do best with dogs his size or bigger, not the littles (at least not until he’s trained). When he’s ready to settle down, he takes the best puppy naps and wakes up refreshed and ready to earn another time out penalty for unnecessary roughness. All jokes aside, he’s smart, fast, energetic, and will need a playful doggie friend or active owners to keep him exercised and trained as he grows. Apply for this Shepherd mix at poundpuppyz.com!
