You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Piper is not currently up for adoption at our shelter - instead we are helping her owner, Jeremy, by listing her as a Courtesy Listing in hopes we can help him find someone that will welcome Piper into their home!   Jeremy's contact info is down below for anyone potentially interested.... 'Piper is believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who loves to run, play, and explore. She is looking for a new home where she can be the only pet, as she has a strong prey drive and will chase small animals. Piper is great with adults and enjoys being around people. While she has limited experience with children, there are no known issues, though proper introductions are always recommended. She thrives with an active family who can give her plenty of playtime, exercise, and affection. While she enjoys attention, she is also independent and comfortable entertaining herself at times. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, and leave it, and does very well leaving food alone when told. Piper is not destructive when left alone, though she’s happiest when she has a bone or chew to keep her occupied.  Curious by nature, Piper loves to investigate everything around her and would do best with owners who understand and appreciate her energy and personality. Piper is 2 years of age, spayed, healthy and current on all vaccinations. We do not know much about the first year of her life as was found wandering in the St. Louis area last winter. We believe the way she behaves around older women that perhaps her owner passed away and she was just let go. Veterinary reference information will be required for adoption consideration.'   Owners info: Jeremy French 319-826-0315 jeremyfrench001@gmail.com Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 22, 2025, 1:55 pm

Story
Meet Hermes – The Three-Legged Lovebug! Hermes is a handsome, happy-go-lucky pup with a heart as big as his smile (born 4/12/23). When he was just a curious little puppy, he had an adventurous leap out of a car window. While he didn’t break any bones, the accident caused nerve damage, and on his vet’s advice, his front right leg was amputated. Don’t let that fool you—Hermes still gets around beautifully! He plays daily with his sister, zooms around the yard, and greets life with tail wags and kisses. Because he puts extra weight on his remaining front leg, Hermes can’t go on long hikes or extended walks—he tires quickly and could risk paw injury. But give him a fenced yard to romp in, a comfy spot to lounge, and a buddy to play with, and he’s in heaven. Hermes’ Best Qualities: Housebroken & crate trained Dog-friendly, stranger-friendly, and adores kids of all ages Knows some commands and loves to fetch Affectionate “kisser” who thinks laps are the best seats in the house Active and playful, especially with another dog friend Expects (and deserves!) everyone to stop and pet him His Perfect Home: Hermes would thrive in a home with another active dog to keep him company and a fenced yard where he can safely run and explore. He’s happiest when he’s part of the action—whether that’s playing with a canine pal, watching the world go by from a sunny window, or curling up with his humans for snuggles. Hermes is truly an all-around sweetheart who will bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to the lucky family who welcomes him home.   The suggested adoption donation for Hermes is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Bentley is a friendly Staffordshire Terrier mix, born May 2017. Bentley is a social butterfly who loves to be close to his favorite people… long walks, lazy days, whatever you’ve got - he’ll take it! Bentley needs to be the only canine in the home, and he loves to run around chasing things smaller than himself... birds, rabbits, squirrels… all things back yard. Bentley worked on command i.e. "leave it” and “stay”.  Bentley is a smart fella, fast-learner, and a people pleaser.  He loves being around his family! Bentley is kennel trained, but is okay free roaming in the home while everyone is away at work & school. He is completely house-trained, well-mannered, and enjoys getting some of his steps in while no one's around!  When the family reconvenes in the evening, Bentley is ready for some outdoor playtime.  Being a curious guy, he needs a fenced backyard to stay safe and close.  Bentley is super excited to find a furever family with the energy and patience that he needs to feel comfortable and confident… and if you have a basket full of tough toys, that wouldn’t be so bad either! The suggested adoption donation for Bentley is $265 which includes microchip registration.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person.
