We are Chip & Ben. We are two cutie doodles. We are poodle mixes, but not sure if/what we are mixed with. Doesn't really matter, as we are still about as cute and sweet as sugar and we are on the search for our forever homes. At 15 lbs, we are just about the perfect size. We will be available to meet at an Adoption Event at the PetSmart on Glenstone on Halloween day. You can get a head start by completing an application for one of us in advance, or just show up and see us for yourself! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2880949##

Story
My name is Rascal and I'm here to warn you about vitamins and minerals. You know how they tell you when you're a kid, "make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals so you can grow up to be big and strong!" and, my friends... it happened to me. Be careful what you wish for. Because I did grow up big- 70 lb- and STRONG! I could arm-wrestle a rhinoceros if either one of us had arms. Luckily, in general, I'm a really nice dog. I've lived with other dogs and cats and done well with them overall. I've been known to pester my smaller dog sibling, but I think that's kind of the God-given duty of any younger brother! I mean, I'm three years old now, so I've probably outgrown the "baby of the family" role, but I'm still a young fella. I've even met and liked kids, although I would probably do best with kids who are big enough not to be easily knocked over. I've got a lot going for me! Like, I'm 37% poodle, so I'm technically a doodle, which makes me a designer breed. But since I've got other stuff in me (20% golden, the rest a wild mishmash), I'm not just designer but one-of-a-kind and limited edition. Since I grew up in a loving home, I've got some training- I'm housebroken and know how to hang out in a bedroom when I'm left alone. I ride well in a car and know a few commands. I'm still a young boy with energy needs, of course- I love playing with other dogs and I love swimming and going for walks. And therein lies my one big problem: I'm not always a perfect gentleman on walks. I can be reactive on the leash and that can be a problem, given that I'm a big boy. I need a person who is both willing to continue working with me on my leash skills and physically able to handle me. I'm an Open Door dog, but right now, I'm in a foster home. That means that, if you want to meet me, you have to make an appointment. Give the shelter a call or fill out an application on the website to get started with that! Rescued just a few months ago as a stray, GENT arrived with a long, heavily matted coat. After a much-needed grooming and veterinary care, this handsome poodle/doodle mix has blossomed into the happy, active, and lovable boy he was meant to be! GENT is as smart as he is handsome. He's highly intelligent and has wonderful manners. He walks beautifully on a leash, rides like a perfect gentleman in the car, and even takes his treats ever so gently. ❤️ He's a sensitive soul, too. Traffic and loud noises can make him uncomfortable, so he would love a patient, understanding person who will help him feel safe and secure as he adjusts to his new life. GENT has been fully vetted and neutered, and now all that's missing is YOU! Louis likes a lot of attention, loves playing with my granddaughters and likes to be underneath someone majority of the time someone who can give him the attention that he needs because my husband and I work a lot he’s how strange but it’s not used to being around.
