Story
Ava is an active and social dog that weighs about 43 lbs. She will be turning 2 years old this December. Ava is dog-friendly, intelligent, and is popular at the dog park and doggy daycare. Ava loves to play with every dog she meets. Therefore, she would do best in a home with another young dog to play with daily. An active family who is home during the day would be great for her. She can get the zoomies if cooped up for long periods of time. She loves pools, lakes, beaches, and hikes; she’d be a great dog for a family that likes to spend time outdoors. She also loves to play tug-of-war (she’ll probably win!) and fetch. Ava is good with kids but because of her love of zoomies and her playful energy, we recommend kids 12 or older. Ava needs a yard that is fenced. She can jump a 4’ fence easily. The times she has gotten out she stays close by and hasn’t run away; she also has good recall. We haven’t tested her with an electric fence but because she’s so intelligent, we do think she’d learn to use one easily. She is housebroken and isn’t crated when left alone; she has free reign of the house and as long as there isn’t a plate of food left out for her to swipe, she’s fine. She doesn’t particularly like crates but has tolerated them in the past. She can sometimes be hesitant around new people at first, particularly adult men, but will warm up to them quickly. She will make a fun, and loving companion, especially if you are looking for an active, playful fun-loving dog! Hi, my name is Shia! I’m a 5-year-old Maltipoo looking for my forever home. I came to All About Paws Rescue as a breeder surrender, and after raising my final litter, I’m finally ready to enjoy the life I deserve. I’m a quiet, gentle lady who loves giving kisses and being close to my people. My foster mom says I make the perfect companion because I like to follow my human around and stay nearby when we’re relaxing—but I’m not overly clingy. I get along well with other dogs and love playing outside with my foster siblings. I’m still learning a few things, like leash walking and building confidence on car rides, but I’m making progress every day. I’m also learning that chasing kitties isn’t polite, so I’ll need a family who can continue guiding me. I do have a habit of guarding my food, so I’m fed separately from other pets. I’m also working on potty training outdoors, but I do well using potty pads inside. Because I’m learning to love outdoor time so much, a fenced yard is a must for me! If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who just wants to be near you and share lots of love, I might be your perfect match. Shia is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, had a heart worm test, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, had a dental, and microchipped. Shia’s adoption fee is $350.00. He enjoys playing with his toys, running around the backyard, and spending time with other dogs—but most of all, he loves being with his humans. If you sit down, Teddy enjoys snuggles and being held. Even better, he shares this same affectionate nature with everyone in the family and greets guests just as warmly. Overall, he has a calm, friendly demeanor that makes him easy to love. He is fully potty trained. Teddy gets along well with dogs and cats. Teddy would thrive in many types of homes but may especially enjoy one where someone is around more often.
