Meet Dorothy 🐾Dorothy is a sweet and resilient doodle who recently lost her sight due to SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome), but don't let that fool you—her spirit shines brighter than ever. 💛With her soft curls and gentle soul, Dorothy is a pro at navigating the world with her heart. Story
Mabel is an 8-month-old poodle mix with a heart full of potential and a gentle soul. She came to us as a stray, found running alongside her best friend Millie. Though her past is a mystery, we’re certain her future is bright.Mabel is a shy girl at first, still learning to trust the kindness of human hands—but once she warms up, she’s as sweet as can be. Treats are the way to her heart, and she’s already showing great progress on a leash, walking calmly and with curiosity. She finds comfort in the company of other dogs, especially her best buddy Millie. If not adopted with her, we highly recommend Mabel go to a home with another confident dog who can help her come out of her shell and show her what it means to be loved and safe. With patience, love, and a bit of time, Mabel is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Could you be the one to show her what home really means?Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Piper!  *Her adoption fee is $350.00. *She is believed to be a 2 year old Goldendoodle mix, but it is impossible to know without a DNA test.*Piper is a big baby, but can be bossy as she is a dominant girl.*She is a reactive dog, has improved immensely, but does not do well with other dominant dogs and needs a slow introduction with new dogs.*Piper must be walked with a gentle lead and short leash for more control.  No pull halter.*She is muzzle trained and it is recommended that she wear a muzzle to the groomers and vet until she is comfortable with them.*It takes time to earn Piper's trust when meeting new people.  She needs a 'no look, no touch' rule at first.  You need to let her come to you.*No kids under the age of 13 and they need to be a mature 13 for Piper.*Piper would do better in a home, so no apartment living for this gal due to her tendency to bark at the window at people or other animals going by.*She is crate trained and potty trained and knows basic obedience.*A fenced in yard is preferred, but not required if her new family is very active.*Piper loves camping, loves to snuggle, and sleep in your bed.*We would love for the right family to meet Piper and give her a home! *The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. Story
Dolly was on the run for at least two weeks before she was caught. She has not been claimed. She is very very scared of people, and we believe she may have come from a breeding facility due to her unregistered microchip that cannot be tracked even to the company of origin. She is currently in a foster home where they’re working with her to gain her trust. She does have a pretty serious ulcer on her eye, the vet has prescribed eye drops, but it may still need to come out if it remains painful to her. She’s also in need of a dental, which she will be getting when she is spayed. She is good with other dogs.If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Completing a questionnaire on any other website does not submit an application to our rescue, you must complete one on our website. If you have any questions, please email us at adopt@MidwestPetRefuge.com
