Story
Hey, I’m Luke — a 5-year-old, 65 pounds. Standard Poodle with a soft heart and a dream for a forever family. I’m the kind of dog who notices things quietly: the sound of your footsteps, the way sunlight moves across the floor, the gentle tone in your voice. I’ve had a few uncertain chapters in my life, so I take my time getting comfortable. But once I trust you, I’ll be your best friend. I’m a sweet, gentle soul who prefers kindness over chaos. New places and faces can make me a little nervous at first, but patience is the key with me. I get along great with other dogs. If you have other four legged friends already in your home, I would be happy to join the pack. Are you looking for a loyal companion who will love you deeply once he knows he’s home for good? Look no further! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Josie is a beautiful, 3 year-old Standard Poodle just waiting for her very own quiet, peaceful home.  This beautiful soul is spayed, fully vetted, and healthy, weighing in around 50 pounds and built like a sleek Cheetah.  She had a very rough life on a breeder farm  up until July when she was rescued by Critter Cavalry, fostered, and lived with a family for the last few months who loved and supported her.  She is coming back to CC because she is nervous around an elderly family member, however she has met other older folks and been fine with them.  She is a study in dichotomy: equal parts elegant and goofy.  She gets the zoomies and then is content to chill on a comfy dog bed for hours.  Josie is the sweetest, most loving and loyal dog who wants nothing more than to be next to her favorite person.  She had difficulty with being crated at first, but has done well with a more spacious crate and some goodies to keep her occupied.  If given the choice, she still would rather not be crated.  At night, she’s thrilled to have a soft bed next to yours and she sleeps the night away.  If she ever needs medication, she’s happy to snack on some Pill Pouches.  She has made great strides with potty training after never having lived inside a home before.  She walks great on a leash and is happy to go outside.  Josie is also very smart and eager to please once she feels comfortable with you.  She knows tricks such as “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and gives a high-five if you hold your palm out to her.  Once she gets to know you, her motto is “Personal space?  Never heard of it!”  You can win her over with some yummy treats and patience.  She takes treats delicately and will stare at you with her soulful eyes just hoping for another morsel.  Go ahead and just TRY to say no!  Josie is a true sidekick – or partner in crime!   Josie’s ideal home is a quiet one with predictable routines and grass to sniff.  She feels that less is more, so a single person, relaxed couple, or small family with chill teens is ideal as she does not enjoy a lot of hustle and bustle.  Josie would love someone who works from home or is retired so she can be by their side.  She would like some room in the yard to run and prance.  She is slowly coming out of her shell and learning that toys are fun, and overall learning how to “dog.”  She might be a diamond in the “ruff” right now, but her sparkle is showing more and more every day.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in this gorgeous Poodle.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 1, 2025, 4:49 pm

Story
Mistletoe is a little sweetheart and she has tons of personality! Her mom is a small B&W rat terrier mix and dad is a doodle. Mom was taken in as a stray by a lady with an unaltered doodle. Before she could find a rescue to help with mom, she became pregnant. Mistletoe, th runt in the litter, is friendly, loving and smart! She is great with other dogs and people of all ages. She has not been around a cat yet but we are confident she will be fine with proper intro. Being the runt, she always seems to end up on the bottom and she still plays hard and never gets mad! Mistletoe is healthy, UTD on puppy shots and worming. She will be spayed and microchipped before going to her forever home. Based on puppy weight calculators we think she will be between 25 and 35 lbs. If you would like to add this sweetheart to your family, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or dogs4mylife@gmail.com. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.

Story
Meet Bowie, a gorgeous pure-bred Standard Poodle, currently 1 year and 9 months old. Bowie originally came from an excellent breeder in North Carolina and has grown into a confident, social, affectionate young dog. Bowie is incredibly friendly—he loves people, children, and especially other dogs. He regularly plays at local dog parks and has built quite a fan club among both dogs and humans in the French Quarter. He is very well-socialized, great on walks, and enjoys being part of daily life. He absolutely loves fetch and playing with a ball, and he’s happiest when he has someone engaging with him. Bowie is affectionate, sweet-natured, and thrives in a home where he has company, attention, and time to play. Bowie would do great in an active home, ideally with access to a yard or someone who enjoys taking him out often. He enjoys structure, companionship, and being included in things. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, well-behaved companion who already comes with wonderful man

Story
Meet Simba! Simba was dumped with another dog in Milford. He was very shy at first but came out of his shell quickly and adapted to shelter life very well. Simba does well with other dogs, we are unsure of cats, and he has not yet met kids to our knowledge. He walks well on leash, likes to play with hard bones in his kennel, and walks well on leash. If you are interested in Simba, please fill out an adoption application on our website!
