Story
Meet Harmony! A 1year old, 33 pound, Female, Doodle mix pup. Harmony, like any puppy, is a high-energy girl who is looking for her daily joys of running as fast as she can, playing with her toys and having anyone and everyone become her instant best friend. Whilst Harmony has high energy, it comes from a lack of stimulation. And we know from experience that Harmony would be an amazing dog with the proper guidance. We have had Harmony sent out to try dog athletics and obstacle courses, and she does amazing. Whilst we do our best, Harmony needs homes with a family that can give her the training, love and focus she needs. And when all is said and done, Harmony is a great cuddler. Harmony thrives on attention, and bonds quickly with anyone who gives her a chance. With a little structure and a lot of love, she’ll blossom into the loyal, affectionate companion she’s meant to be. Harmony might suit best as a sole dog of a home.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. Story
Babette, aka Miss Millie, is a beautiful black Standard Poodle female. She is small to medium in size - about 40 pounds. Although we don't know her history, she appears to have all the characteristics of a purebred. Her estimated date of birth is around 7/7/2023. Meet Babette, aka Miss Millie! Some dogs have a story that stays with you—and Miss Millie is one of them. Millie was found wandering the streets of South Dallas, frightened, painfully thin, and covered in fleas and severe mats from head to toe—even between her tiny toes. A kind rescuer patiently coaxed her to safety, and from that moment, her new life began. Although she was scared of many things, it was clear that Millie had an incredibly loving heart. She desperately wanted someone to trust, and with a few weeks of patience, decompression, and gentle encouragement, her sweet personality began to shine. Once she had gained some confidence, Millie was spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for heartworms—great news, she was heartworm negative! Her next stop was the groomer, where she was an absolute superstar. Because of the severe matting, she needed a very short haircut all over, with one adorable exception: the fluffy tip of her tail, which she proudly shows off! Her beautiful coat will continue to grow back, and she'll need regular grooming to keep it soft and healthy. Today, Millie is thriving in her foster home. She has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate girl whose heart seems to grow bigger every day. Here's what makes Millie so special:  Loves everyone—men, women, and especially children.  Absolutely adores other dogs and would love a canine companion in her forever home.  Cat-friendly.  Potty trained, crate trained, and very intelligent.  Young, playful, and full of happy energy. A fenced backyard where she can run and play would be a dream come true. Gentle and sweet—she has never shown any aggression. Millie is embracing every day with enthusiasm, learning new things, and discovering just how wonderful family life can be. Watching her transformation has been incredible, and now she's ready to find the forever home she's always deserved. Adoption Fee: $400 Her adoption fee includes one year of heartworm prevention. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will brighten every day with her sweet spirit and joyful personality, Miss Millie may be the perfect addition to your family!August 6, 2026, 3:31 pm

Story
Dallas-Forth Worth Area Applications Only Meet Hazel – Your New Best Friend!  If you're looking for a dog who will make you smile every single day, Hazel is your girl! Hazel is a gorgeous young Labradoodle with the sweetest personality. She is friendly, affectionate, playful, and endlessly curious about the world around her. Everything is an adventure to Hazel! Whether she's chasing her favorite tennis ball, wrestling with another dog, or exploring the backyard with those adorable, oversized paws, she approaches life with pure joy. Hazel absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine companion, although she would also be happy as the center of attention in an active family. She is wonderful with children, gets along with cats, and has never met a stranger. She's house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, current on all of her vaccinations, heartworm tested, and up to date on heartworm prevention. At around 50 pounds, Hazel is still growing and is going to be a big girl! Right now she's tall, lanky, and all legs, but she'll continue to fill out as she matures. One of her most charming features is her super cute, oversized paws—they perfectly match her goofy personality and are guaranteed to make you fall in love. Hazel's owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her after joining the Merchant Marines, where she'll be away for 6–9 months at a time. Wanting Hazel to have the time, attention, and love she deserves, she chose to give her the opportunity to find a family who can give her the life every young dog dreams of. Hazel is looking for a family that will include her in everyday life, take her on adventures, throw a tennis ball until everyone's tired, and love her as much as she'll love them. She's truly a precious girl with so much happiness to share. Interested in adopting Hazel? Please complete an adoption application at www.legacyhumanesociety.org. Once your application is received, Hazel's foster mom will be in touch to answer questions and arrange a meet-and-greet. Hazel's adoption donation is $275, which helps Legacy Humane Society continue rescuing and caring for animals in need. If you're ready for a loyal, goofy, playful companion with a heart as big as her adorable paws, Hazel can't wait to meet you! We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application.
