Story
Amelie is an 8 months old Poodle mix with a heart of gold, a whole lot of puppy charm, and a rather amusing little touch of kleptomania when it comes to shoes.
Amelie loves meeting new people and has never met a stranger. Sweet, friendly, loving, and wonderfully easy to get along with, this girl is ready to bring plenty of happiness, laughter, and cuddles into her forever home.
Sweet, friendly, loving, and wonderfully easy to get along with, this girl is ready to bring plenty of happiness, laughter, and cuddles into her forever home.
She's also a smart girl who understands boundaries. Although she enjoys hoarding her little treasures, she listens well to “no” and will often obey when asked to drop something she shouldn't have in her mouth. With continued positive-reinforcement training, she'll learn what's hers to play with and what's best left in the closet!
Amelie is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and very-well socialized. She still has her puppy energy to burn, things to learn, and plenty of growing up to do. A patient, loving family willing to continue her training with kindness, consistency, and positive reinforcement would be perfect for her.
Amelie and her brother were brought to a high-kill shelter by the very people who were supposed to love and protect them. Their owners said they no longer had time for them. They were so matted that they had to be shaved off. Her fur is growing back nicely now, and they are both off to a new beginning without neglect.
Thankfully, Amelie's brother was adopted, and a wonderful foster family stepped up to save Amelie, too. She was given a second chance at life, and now we're hoping her next chapter will be even more beautiful: a forever family who will never decide she's too much trouble or not worth the time.
Currently, Amelie lives in a home with her 7 year old human foster sister, 4 cats, and a 8 year old doggie foster brother. She gets along with everyone.
Amelie deserves a family who will cherish her through her playful puppy days, celebrate her progress as she learns, laugh at her silly antics, and love her for the wonderful little soul she is.
Amelie is 8 months old, and weighs around 35 lb and growing. She is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. She is currently being fostered in Houston but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home.
To adopt our puppies, yards must be fully and adequately fenced. We do not accept invisible or electric fences.
To meet this sweet girl through FaceTime, WhatsApp, or another video-chat app, please submit a completed adoption application at www.savesomesouls.com.
Amelie's adoption fee includes her veterinary care: DAPP vaccination and booster, Bordetella and rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, spay surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high-quality nylon Martingale collar, and a harness.
Transport is available across the United States. Estimated transport costs are $250–$300 for the East Coast and $300–$400 for the Pacific Northwest.
Why Adopt from Save Some Souls?
Houston is home to countless stray dogs, including those abandoned, born on the streets, or lost after escaping from yards. Every day, dogs like Amelie depend on rescue organizations for a second chance.
Unlike shelters that receive grants, our rescue relies on adoption fees and donations to help fund veterinary care, food, monthly preventatives, and the ongoing needs of our long-term and permanent fosters and dogs who may be difficult to place.
We believe in transparency. Our dogs are assessed by their foster families, veterinarians, and behaviorists, and we share their positive qualities as well as their challenges. Videos and video chats help prospective adopters observe their personalities and manners before making a commitment. We want every adoption to be the right fit because the journey to a new home can be stressful, and our dogs deserve forever homes, not another return.
When you adopt from Save Some Souls, you do more than save one life. You make room for us to rescue another dog waiting in a high-kill shelter.
Amelie has already lost the family she knew. Now she needs a family who will choose her, make time for her, teach her, and love her for all the years to come.
And if you happen to find a shoe in her collection, please remember: she's not a thief. She's just a little girl with a big heart and questionable taste in footwear!
Please choose rescue, not a breeder. Give Amelie the forever home she's been waiting for!
