Story
Meet Milo — the kind of dog people dream about and hope to find.  This gorgeous Apricot Doodle, weighing 55 pounds and 4 years young, is the total package and ready to bring joy to a new family. Milo has been with his family since puppyhood, and as life changed and children came along, they realized that Milo deserves more time and attention than they can give. It’s a loving, thoughtful decision made with Milo’s best interests at heart — because there is truly nothing lacking in this wonderful boy. Milo is fantastic with young children, housebroken, crate trained, and has a calm, well-mannered personality that makes him an ideal family companion. He’s the kind of dog who settles easily, loves being included, and just wants to belong.   Critter Cavalry Rescue will be helping Milo find the perfect match and will be making sure he is neutered and fully up-to-date on vet care on 1/14. From there, he’s ready to step right into a lucky family’s life and become someone’s best friend. Trust us — someone is going to hit the jackpot with Milo.  To learn more, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
Meet Nyx !! This sweet young boy has had a rough go at life so far. He was left at the shelter for being to scared and shy. He completely shut down at the shelter and things weren't looking good for him. We decided to take a chance on the scared guy. He's impressed us so much since arriving here. He's like a whole new dog now!! Nyx a 11 month old, male, Poodle mix. (Yes that's right, a 'Doodle' is just a mixed breed that can favor the characteristics of either parent.) He currently weighs 47 pounds and is close to full grown. He will be neutered, microchipped and update on his vaccines as part of his adoption. He is thankfully Heartworm negative. He is NOT hypoallergenic (most 'doodles' are not and many get rehomed due to that common misconception!) He does shed less than a regular dog. Nyx is a good boy with a decent training foundation already. He's a bit shy and timid at first and then very loyal and loving. He does really well with another dog in the home to show him things are safe and he loves a playmate. He has great manners and loves to sit and share his paw. He likes to connect with people by touching them with his paw, it's adorable. He is doing great with potty training. He does good on car rides but is very scared getting in. Once you get where you're going he realizes it's safe and he relaxes. He did amazing at the vet on his last trip. He is pretty good on the leash. He likes walks but will get scared sometimes in new places or with new things. He's also crate trained and likes having one to use as his safe space. Nyx flourished immediately in a confident household. It took less than a day for him to go from terrified to happy, playful and giving hugs. (If you say the word hug you're getting one from this guy lol) He needs a family that understands scared dogs or is willing to learn. He is said to have nipped his previous owner out of fear. It sounded like he was panicking and cornered during the incident. He's done absolutely nothing aggressive here and when treated appropriately we don't expect him to be put in a position like that again. He has been great with all other dogs he's met. He did very good at the vet with not reacting to strange dogs even ones barking at him. He's fostered with cats and does fine around them. He's been excellent with children in his foster home as well. He will need to go to a home with children old enough and mature enough to give him space when needed. Nyx has a medium energy level. He loves running and playing outside with another dog. He's spunky and playful but also calm and well behaved inside. He loves to play and be silly, whether that's with his humans or other dogs. Even though he initiates play he takes cues well and will back off when he needs to. He's a really good mix of fun and relaxed. He has not had any trouble sharing treats, toys or food with other dogs or people. He is shy with meeting new people but warms up very quickly. GROOMING 'Doodles' are a mix of two breeds and despite the hype they generally have hair from both dogs they are bred from. This causes terrible matting and means they require lots of brushing. They also usually need to be professionally groomed at least every 6 weeks. For a 'Doodle' this is usually $100 often more as their hair mixture can be very difficult to work with. If you aren't willing to provide the time and finances toward his grooming, please pick a different dog to adopt Nyx really seems ready to come out of his shell and leave his previous life behind. He immediately became a different dog in the right environment. Someone willing to give this guy a chance is going to be getting a very special and loyal companion. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 1 hour drive radius) 'MESSAGE VillageDogResource@gmail.com or visit our Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application. '
