Story
Remember that little boy in your third-grade class? He was skinny, smaller than everyone else, a bit… awkward. Then school picture day arrived, and there he was in pleated jeans and a perfectly pressed shirt, hair carefully combed, giving the camera his bravest little smile. Maybe he wasn’t entirely sure where he fit yet, but he was doing his absolute best because somewhere inside that scrawny little body was the quiet conviction that better things were coming. That’s Starshine.Starshine's a 3-year-old, 10-pound poodle who was owner-surrendered for the usual reasons. He's beautifully mannered, affectionate, polite, eager to make friends, and genuinely delighted when someone chooses to spend time with him. He has the endearingly earnest quality of a kid who raises his hand, waits to be called on, says “please” and "thank you," and desperately hopes somebody saves him a seat at lunch. And we all know how that kid’s story goes.Twenty years later, he owns six patents, founded a wildly successful company, discovered something important involving molecules, and politely holds the door open for you at the grocery store.Starshine has that kind of potential. He doesn’t need much -- just someone to look past the awkward school picture and see the wonderful little dog standing there, doing his best, waiting for the life he knows is out there somewhere. He already has the perfectly pressed shirt personality. Now he just needs a family to save a seat for him.Come meet Starshine at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, daily, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
If you`re looking for a fun-loving dog with plenty of personality, Broadway is ready to steal the show! This handsome guy is full of energy, curiosity, and just the right amount of mischief. He loves to stay busy, explore his surroundings, and make every day an adventure. Because of his active nature, Broadway would thrive with a family that enjoys playtime, enrichment activities, and continued training.Broadway is incredibly smart and eager to learn—especially when treats are involved! He`s very food motivated, making him a fantastic candidate for positive reinforcement training. With consistency and patience, this clever boy is sure to impress.Broadway absolutely adores women and forms strong bonds with them. He can be nervous around men and tends to be more submissive than fearful, often choosing to cower or keep his distance until he feels comfortable. Even in his foster home, he`s still warming up to the foster`s husband. He`ll need a patient adopter who will let him build trust at his own pace and celebrate the small victories along the way.He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions. Because every dog is different, we recommend a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs before adoption to make sure everyone is a good match.Broadway also does well with cats, although he sometimes gets excited and wants to play or give chase. His intentions are playful, but not all cats appreciate his enthusiasm, so a confident, dog-savvy cat or careful introductions would be best.Due to his high energy level and playful, sometimes mischievous nature, Broadway is looking for a home with **no children under 12 years old**.If you`re ready for an intelligent, entertaining, and affectionate companion who`s sure to keep you smiling, Broadway might just be your perfect leading man!

Story
Meet Reese!Hi, I’m Reese! I’m a 2-year-old Labradoodle who is friendly, energetic, and one smart cookie!I originally came to the shelter because my family was having landlord issues. I was adopted, but my puppy-like energy and behavior turned out to be a little more than my family was prepared for, so I found myself back at the shelter. The truth is, I’m still working on a few things. I can be a little mouthy, and I need someone who is willing to give me some guidance, structure, and patience so I can learn how to be the very best version of myself. I’m pretty good with other dogs and cats, and I have plenty of energy to keep up with an active family!Because I’m still learning my manners, we’re asking that everyone in the home come meet me before adoption to make sure we’re a good fit for one another. If you’re looking for a fun, smart, energetic companion with a whole lot of personality, come meet Reese! Just ask the front desk about setting up a meet with me.

Story
Marley Girl is a happy, outgoing  8 year old Aussie Doodle with a heart full of love and lots of years and life left to share. This young senior girl is looking for a new home through no fault of her own because her natural herding instincts have taken over and she is chasing the chickens at her former home.  Apparently eggs are more important than sweet Marley.   This girl at 8 years is not too big and just 45 pounds and has lived with another dog during her life and also cats.  Chickens are different for dogs and so she is looking for a new place to live.  Marley is is fully house trained and potty trained, She loves riding in a car and enjoys watching the scenery go by as she rides shotgun. While Marley has a few years behind her she has so many more ahead of her. Her infectious smile only guarantees that you will be her beloved family that she will adore as an easy companion dog.  This girl is all about being a loyal, family-friendly companion who is past the puppy stage but still ready for more years of adventures, cuddles and making memories, Marley may be the perfect match for you. if you are a senior or a younger person that just wants a mellow dog to love.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.     PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 18, 2026, 11:30 am
