Story
About Me: Name: Waverly Breed (or best guess): Poodle (Moyen sized) Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 23 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Patient family, fenced yard Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Waverly came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a little shy but okay with being handled.  She needs work on walking on a leash, so needs a fenced yard for her safety .  She gets along with other dogs, but will likely do fine as an only dog as well.  She is quiet when kenneled alone, but when she shares a kennel run with other dogs she tends to bark.  If you have the patience to help her learn about living the good life as a loved pet, she may be the perfect girl for you! Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS December 14, 2025, 6:59 pm

Story
Quinn is a quirky conundrum. She is so playful and gregarious - with other dogs. At first we thought she was uber shy, or had had a tough beginning to her life which was going to take time to change. What we are starting to discover is that she is generally a happy go lucky bouncy girl who will self play with stuffies (throwing them up in the air), bounces through the yard like tigger, is house trained and crate trained, and generally very entertaining. She takes treats softly, gives tender licks, and will snuggle up briefly and selectively when things are calm and the humans are sitting or laying down and her environment is relatively calm. The obstacles that are still challenging for her are 1) she is very very leash reactive/fearful. This will require skilled training. 2) She must have 4 legged friend(s) around her. They give her confidence around people, going outside and coming inside and generally feeling safe. 3) She requires a home with a 5`+ fence. Until she is fully trained on leashes she would be a flight risk and therefore needs a safe place to get her run on. (she is medium energy). When guests come into the house, as long as the fosters dogs are in the area she is quite inquisitive and will be right there sniffing out the new people with her tail wagging, She is with a new foster and the transition was smooth in that she met all the pups, figured out the door to go outside and in, and was sitting on the sofa between foster mom and dad before the end of the first day. She is very resilient, adaptable and as long as her minimum needs are met (fence, dogs, training) she will be a remarkable family member. Check out her videos on our Facebook page (link at the bottom of our website).Adoption fee: $625All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an online application at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Additional details about who we are, what we do and how to adopt can be found on our website.JR’s Pups-N-Stuff Dog Sellers License 522614

Story
Buttercup is 18 months old. She is very shy and has been ever since she was a puppy. She is a very good dog and gets along great with our two Bernese Mountain dogs and our grand kids. She is crate trained. She does keep our 3 cats on edge but especially our male Ragdoll cat. It causes him to not want to use his littler box. That was not an issue until Buttercup showed up. For that reason we need to move on. It’s not fair to either animal. We hate to see her go but it’s unfair to have her in a cage just so the male cat can move around the house. Looking for a loving home that’s willing to work thru her shy tendencies. She has so much potential. Thanks Neil

Welcome Sissy! Sissy is the epitome of grace and poise—a truly elegant companion who carries herself with quiet, refined dignity. Known for her impeccable manners, she is a very well-behaved, fully house-trained, and leash-trained dog. She is also a quick learner who proudly demonstrates her skills by sitting politely on command and offering her paw to `shake.` While Sissy is social and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, she prefers soft-natured companions and does not like roughhousing. If you are interested in meeting Sissy, call Helping Paws to schedule an appointment.D.O.B: 12-10-22

Meet Percy – Your New Adventure Buddy! 🐾 Percy is a 4-year-old Goldendoodle with a heart full of love and energy to match! This playful, affectionate pup is ready to find his forever home where he can thrive as the fun-loving companion he was born to be. Percy is great with other dogs and would love a canine buddy to romp around with. He’s an active boy who enjoys walks, playtime, and plenty of attention. Whether it’s a game of fetch in the yard or a hike on the trails, Percy is always up for an adventure. Because of his enthusiasm and energy, Percy would do best in a home with older kids (12+) who can keep up with his playful spirit. He's not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must. This sweet, curly-coated guy is looking for a family who will give him the love, structure, and activity he needs to be his best self. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic, and endlessly lovable best friend, Percy might just be your perfect match! Ready to meet Percy? Fill out an adoption application on our website forrescue.net today and come see if he’s the one for you! He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL.

He’s working on going potty outside and almost has it down, but would benefit from a belly band if being left for a longer period. He is not a fan of being left alone and would prefer a calmer home where someone is home with him often. Story
Meet Louie! Nickname: King Louis XVIII Breed: Miniature Poodle Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge Age: Golden oldie Weight: 10 lbs of pure scruffy joy Hometown: Columbus, WI Current digs: Mount Horeb, WI Personality Snapshot: I'm that old dude who is reliving his youth. If I were a human, I would be the guy at the retirement home sneaking out with all the widows at night and toilet papering houses. The one who smuggles a can of Bud Light back in when he knows he isn't supposed to be drinking in the home. The one who wears loud Hawaiian shirts and goes joyriding at night. I love all people, men, women, boys, girls, tall, short. My foster mom worries that because I am just smol, small humans might not see me and I might get stepped or fallen on, so if you have little people, please think carefully about whether you can keep me safe. If your little people are respectful of my teeny-ishness, that would be great. I love all the dogs, especially the ones who want to play with me, but if I am your one and only and YOU want to play with me, that is fine too. Big dogs, little dogs, let's play! There is a video on this listing of me playing with another doggo. Check out my tippy tappy feet! I do currently live with a kitty and we are simpatico. Kind Louis's Stats: Sleep style: currently in a crate, but I feel like you should let me sleep with you in your bed. Maybe? Please? During the day, I sleep in doggy beds with blankies. Meals: I do love food! My foster momma mixes some dry kibble and canned food twice a day. I love chimkin and CHEEEEESE. I wasn't always fed regularly or enough in my previous life, so I am very food motivated. It might be good to feed me separately so I don't help myself to another pupper's food. Snore-o-meter: 1/10 I am a polite sleeper Bark-o-meter: 1/10 I will let you know in the morning when I have to go potty outside, and if everyone else barks, I will join in the chorus. Otherwise, I am a super polite old man. Shedding: 1/10 Be prepared to keep me brushed and to have professional grooming regularly. My lovely curls can get matted if you don't! Fashion sense: definitely a loud Hawaiian shirt and white polyester pants. Signature color: Red tartan. When I'm not sneaking out at night, I do love a plaid tam and sweater Walk-out song: Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves! Favorite season: Autumn. Not too hot, not too cold, just right for a sweater! Dream job: TV Judge. The older I get, the more experience I have in silently judging you! Alternatively, a restaurant critic. I'll eat your foi gras, your bechamel, or your trash. It all sounds wonderful! Special Notes: I do mark indoors and am wearing a belly band right now. However, I am scheduled for a neuter 1.28, because balls are for the football field, not rescue dogs, and there is a good chance that this issue will improve. I will likely also stop marking once I am feeling familiar and safe in a home. I have only been in foster for a short time. I am also getting my teefs shined up that same day. My foster mama says that I am a wonderful little boy who does let age or my less than perfect vision cramp my style. I love to ride in the car and watch out the window (I can see, just not super well). I love to explore and to cuddle in the recliner with you The Details: Neutered very soon Microchipped Housebroke (marks but that should improve with comfort level and neuter) Enjoys playing with dogs from smol to mondo (Chihuahua to large Lab) Happy tappies (see my video) Rides like a champ in the car Crate trained for sleep Up to date on vaccinations & preventatives Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
