Story
Fuzzy is a 1 yr old Poodle mix who was abandoned by his family and spent several weeks outside fending for himself. He is a shy boy with new people and is definitely afraid of men. He is very gentle and will do best in a quiet home. He must have an escape-proof SECURE FENCED IN YARD in his new home.. No exceptions, NO UNDERGROUND FENCING- and we will check the yard before adoption. We are not looking for a senior adopter for this young dog and he would probably be best with older children or adults. He is ok with other friendly dogs. Please submit an application at pawshs.org and NOT a Petfinder inquiry as they may not be answered due to the volume of these inquiries received. Our adoption fees include the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations (including rabies for cats / dogs over 4 months of age), flea prevention, worming, FeLV/FIV testing, heartworm test for dogs over 1 yrs old, and microchipping. The location of our Adoption Center PAWS at 7282 N. Cherryvale Mall Drive . Check out all of our adoptable dogs, cats and kittens on our website at www.pawshs.org. Story
I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $450 Meet Breezy! This handsome Poodle/Black Lab mix is on the lookout for his forever home—and he’s bringing plenty of charm along with him. A true distinguished gentleman, Breezy may be an elder statesman, but he’s still a smart cookie who proudly knows “sit,” “down,” and “shake.” He gets along well with other dogs and is happiest when he has a cozy spot to rest his head and a family to shower with his endless love. Breezy is ready to trade in shelter life for soft beds, warm hearts, and plenty of belly rubs. Could this sweet, seasoned boy be the perfect addition to your family? Breezy sure hopes so! All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown. We look forward to seeing you soon! Story
About Me: Name: Waverly Breed (or best guess): Poodle (Moyen sized) Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 23 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Patient family, fenced yard Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Waverly came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a little shy but okay with being handled.  She needs work on walking on a leash, so needs a fenced yard for her safety .  She gets along with other dogs, but will likely do fine as an only dog as well.  She is quiet when kenneled alone, but when she shares a kennel run with other dogs she tends to bark.  If you have the patience to help her learn about living the good life as a loved pet, she may be the perfect girl for you! Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 7, 2026, 6:42 pm

Story
Graham is a Purebred Standard (Red) Poodle…and most definitely a Perfect Pup. He’s about 6 years old, and weight 63 lbs. He definitely is a good looking dog, sure to get plenty of attention when he’s out and about town!! Graham joined us from a very large dog ranch in Florida. He was a breeder release, and, initially, is not particularly trusting of people he does not know. He does not growl or such, but is just hesitant with unknown people. New people need to earn his trust and affection. We do believe some abusive treatment is a part of his past. Unlike his timid and shy demeanor with new people, Graham absolutely loves other dogs and warms up to new canine friends quickly. He loves playing with them and cuddling with them too. Graham walks very nicely on a leash, enjoys car rides and is a great passenger, is housebroken and is crate trained. He is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. Although we love Graham, it is time for him to move along to a forever home of his own. If you are interested in adding this awesome boy to your family, please message us or, email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com Graham is located in the Barrington Area (Illinois) and adopt local to our area.

Story
Lainey is a sweet and adorable young girl, estimated to be about one year old, who is just beginning to learn what it feels like to be safe and loved. After coming to rescue through animal control, this shy and timid pup is taking her time adjusting to her new surroundings and learning to trust the world around her. Lainey is very scared right now and can be a flight risk, meaning she may try to run if she feels overwhelmed or frightened. Because of this, she will need a patient and attentive home committed to safe handling, secure spaces, and helping her build confidence slowly and safely. She will thrive with adopters willing to provide patience, reassurance, and positive reinforcement as she learns the world isn’t such a scary place. Lainey is food motivated, which has been very helpful as she works on potty training, crate training, and leash manners. Her foster family is still getting to know Lainey as she settles in, and each day she continues to make small but meaningful steps forward. With kindness, consistency, and love, her personality is beginning to emerge. We will continue to update Lainey’s bio as she becomes more comfortable and we learn more about this special girl. If you have a calm home and a gentle heart for a dog who simply needs patience, safety, and understanding, Lainey may be the perfect companion for you.   Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person.
