We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). Lucy has been through a lot in her past homes. She was mistreated by both the adults and the children she lived with, which has caused her to be very uncomfortable around young kids. Unfortunately, this wasn’t shared with me when I adopted her — I learned about it later. Lucy has tried to charge at two younger children in my family, and with me expecting my first baby, I don’t feel it’s safe for her to be around an infant in the future. This is truly no one’s fault — she’s traumatized and scared, not aggressive by nature. Despite her past, Lucy is incredibly loving, sweet, and loyal. She’s a great dog with a big heart. She does bark, but she listens when told to stop. She loves being outside, sunbathing, and going on her four daily walks. Lucy would thrive in a home without young children and with someone who understands her background. She does do well with older kids, like teenagers. She would make a wonderful companion for the right family or individual.
