Story
Here’s a polished version of Theo’s adoption post—still in his voice but shorter, clearer, and eye-catching while keeping all the important details:  Hi, I’m Theo (you may remember me as Buttersquash)!  I had a rough start in life and was so abused I could barely be touched. With patience and love from my foster mom, I’ve blossomed into a happy, ball-chasing, life-loving, cuddly boy—on my terms of course (I even bring out my “inner feline” sometimes ).  I’m about 3 years old, fully vetted, and one very special pup: &#226&#156&#168 Must have a completely fenced yard (non-negotiable—no leashes or leads for me). &#226&#156&#168 No kids and no cats (I pester them too much). &#226&#156&#168 Another playful dog would be awesome! &#226&#156&#168 I need a family experienced with anxious dogs who will give me patience, time, and love. &#226&#156&#168 I do have dry eye and need to be sedated at the vet, but my foster mom keeps me trimmed and handsome at home.  I’m funny, unique, and full of love once I trust you. If you love to play ball and are ready for a loyal best friend, I’m your boy. Apply at: www.affrescue.com Questions? Call/text 215-676-3318  What are you waiting for? I’m ready for my forever family!   Do you want me to also make a shorter “social media caption version” to grab attention quickly, and then link to the longer description?  October 7, 2025, 10:54 pm

Story
Lucy has been through a lot in her past homes. She was mistreated by both the adults and the children she lived with, which has caused her to be very uncomfortable around young kids. Unfortunately, this wasn’t shared with me when I adopted her — I learned about it later. Lucy has tried to charge at two younger children in my family, and with me expecting my first baby, I don’t feel it’s safe for her to be around an infant in the future. This is truly no one’s fault — she’s traumatized and scared, not aggressive by nature. Despite her past, Lucy is incredibly loving, sweet, and loyal. She’s a great dog with a big heart. She does bark, but she listens when told to stop. She loves being outside, sunbathing, and going on her four daily walks. Lucy would thrive in a home without young children and with someone who understands her background. She does do well with older kids, like teenagers. She would make a wonderful companion for the right family or individual.

Story
Hi!  My name is Benji and I am looking for a forever home.  I along with lots of other dogs were part of the dogs BCAA stepped up for when a puppy mill was closing and reached out for help.  Many of us were so matted that we had to be shaved down which included me, but my hair is starting to grow back and I am now starting to look like the schnauzer I am supposed to be.  I only weigh around 10lbs and at around a year old, I shouldn't get much bigger.  I was so scared when I first came into foster, I first went to a Dog Prison Program where I got lots of one-on-one attention, and while I'm still on the shy and skittish side my foster mom that I'm with now says I've come such a long way from when she first met me, and with continued patience, TLC and some treats says I'm going ot make a really good boy.  I have gotten along with the other small dogs I have met and would love to find a home with another dog that I could look to for some guidance in navigating dealing with everyone.  I have done really well in my crate without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding.  I love my food and treats.  While in the Prison Program, I learned about a leash and surprised my foster mom with how good I was walking on one.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.  Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
Sweet little Kenny is one of the many dogs rescued from a puppy mill that is finally shutting down. Like so many from this heartbreaking situation, Kenny arrived in rough shape—under-socialized, scared, and unsure of the world around him.Kenny is a 3-year-old Schnauzer weighing about 14 pounds. Before his rescue, his coat was so severely matted that he had to be completely shaved down—even his face and ears. His “before” photo says it all. But under all that neglect was a handsome, hopeful boy just waiting to shine. Now, in foster care, Kenny is learning what life is supposed to feel like. A few months ago he was locked in a cage at a puppy mill… today he’s warm, safe, and soaking up little patches of sunshine like it’s the best thing in the world. It’s truly a joy to watch this boy transform. The first week in his foster home, he was completely shut down—he’d quietly walk into his crate and just sit, because that was the only “normal” he had ever known. Now? His Schnauzer personality is starting to emerge. He paces, he gets a little hyper, he does his nervous little bark, and he follows his foster around the house. But when she turns around and looks at him, he still scoots back bashfully—wanting attention while also being a little unsure. It’s all part of him learning how to be a dog for the very first time.Even though he’s 3 years old, Kenny often feels more like a puppy starting from scratch. He doesn’t love the crate anymore and will bark for a bit at bedtime before settling in, and again when the sun comes up. But he’s also learning new things every day—including leash walking, which he’s picking up quickly and doing wonderfully with thanks to patient, positive guidance.Because of his background, a secure, fenced yard is still preferred for safe potty breaks and decompression time. A friendly, confident resident dog would also be a huge help in showing him the ropes and helping him continue to come out of his shell.Kenny is ready for a calm, patient home that will celebrate each tiny milestone with him. Whoever adopts him will get the incredible gift of watching this sweet, nervous, wonderful boy continue to blossom into the companion he was always meant to be. If you can offer Kenny the safe, loving forever home he deserves, please fill out an adoption application at www.bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! Story
McGraw (aka “The Audacity in a Fur Coat” 🙄) McGraw is a 6-month-old Schnauzer mix who radiates confidence, charm, and pure audacity. He’s cute — offensively cute — which is fortunate, because he’s also a bit of a menace. Honestly, he’s lucky he’s handsome. It’s the only reason we haven’t sent him packing for his unapologetic antics. 😏 He’s brilliant, but not in a helpful way. You can expect a constant stream of feedback—he’s nothing if not expressive. He’ll let you know exactly how he feels about everything— sometimes through barking, sometimes through grumbling, and occasionally through what we’ll call “constructive growling.” 🙃 Don’t worry, it’s mostly just his way of expressing that you’ve mildly inconvenienced him. He’s the type of dog who’ll steal your heart ❤️ and your spot on the couch, then growl when you try to take it back. He does well with kids, cats, and other dogs — assuming everyone understands who’s in charge here (hint: it’s McGraw 😤). He’s crate trained, picking up house training, neutered, vaccinated, and running entirely on confidence and misplaced self-importance. He’ll make you laugh, cry, and question your life choices 🤔, often in the same hour. McGraw will require an adopter with either a lot of experience or the patience of a saint 😇 — preferably both. You’ll need a sense of humor, low blood pressure, and a good understanding of irony. If you enjoy sarcastic commentary, mildly toxic relationships, and being bossed around by someone under two feet tall, McGraw is your guy. Apply now, or don’t— his self esteem will remain unaffected. 💅🏻 RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org. All dogs from this rescue are transported from Alabama to the Pennsylvania/ New England area and delivered in Pennsylvania and RI. Each dog will come fully vetted. Price also includes transportation and a Health Certificate as required by law. There is a 100.00 deposit required at the time of adoption to secure the transport crate. The remainder of the fee will be paid once you pick up the dog. Naturally the 100.00 comes off the total owed at pick up. It will be refunded if for any reason you decide you do not want to adopt, unless the transport has already left.with the dog.
