Story
Meet Sabrina! This sweet, gorgeous girl is as bewitching as her namesake. Sabrina was found as a stray on a bitterly cold day and made her way to Miri's Haven. Initially reserved and a bit fearful, she has completely blossomed in her foster home since realizing that she's finally safe and deeply loved. She now comes over to join her foster family for snuggles on the couch, puts her face in their faces so she can gaze into their eyes, and even lets them hold her. Huge steps for a girl who we suspect has not been treated kindly in the past. Sabrina has perfect manners - she's completely housetrained and crate trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night. Sabrina would do equally well as an only dog or part of a pack. She's learned to enjoy playing with her canine foster sister (who is a great teacher), receiving pets, and snoozing on the couch. Sabrina likes calm, peaceful environments and gentle movements and approaches, so she would do best in a home without small children. She also gets cold easily so would love a house with lots of soft blankets and cozy dog sweaters! Sabrina is approximately 7 years old and 14 lbs. Fostered in Baltimore, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
McGraw (aka “The Audacity in a Fur Coat” ) McGraw is a 6-month-old Schnauzer mix who radiates confidence, charm, and pure audacity. He’s cute — offensively cute — which is fortunate, because he’s also a bit of a menace. Honestly, he’s lucky he’s handsome. It’s the only reason we haven’t sent him packing for his unapologetic antics. He’s brilliant, but not in a helpful way. You can expect a constant stream of feedback—he’s nothing if not expressive. He’ll let you know exactly how he feels about everything— sometimes through barking, sometimes through grumbling, and occasionally through what we’ll call “constructive growling.” Don’t worry, it’s mostly just his way of expressing that you’ve mildly inconvenienced him. He’s the type of dog who’ll steal your heart and your spot on the couch, then growl when you try to take it back. He does well with kids, cats, and other dogs — assuming everyone understands who’s in charge here (hint: it’s McGraw ). He’s crate trained, picking up house training, neutered, vaccinated, and running entirely on confidence and misplaced self-importance. He’ll make you laugh, cry, and question your life choices , often in the same hour. McGraw will require an adopter with either a lot of experience or the patience of a saint — preferably both. You’ll need a sense of humor, low blood pressure, and a good understanding of irony. If you enjoy sarcastic commentary, mildly toxic relationships, and being bossed around by someone under two feet tall, McGraw is your guy. Apply now, or don’t— his self esteem will remain unaffected.

Story
Shadow was a rescue that my husbands former boss adopted, after a while his boss gave shadow to us as we were experienced pet owners. As we had shadow we have moved several times and have had a baby. When we had our baby we noticed shadow was becoming more aggressive and jealous. We tried to work with him, showing we loved them equally, and tried to train him again but he become more stubborn and jealous, leading to him not listening anymore with house rules. After some careful thoughts and tears we decided it would be better to re-home him, as we had gotten tired of his aggressiveness and cleaning up after him. We believe he would be better suited for a home with no children, or a home with older kids and a family that wants to be smothered in his love. Shadow always loves a good backyard and squirrels, along with walks and loves of cuddles.
