Stella is a 16 year old slightly large tabby cat. She has hyperthyroidism and eats a medicated dry food for it. She was rescued earlier in her life (approx 3 years old I believe) by college students from a shelter though the crowdedness and lifestyle in a house of college girls was overwhelming and she hid much of the time so one of the girls took her with her when she left. She stayed with that owner for about 7 years before being rehomed to me. Throughout her ownership I don’t believe she ever spent time with other cats or enjoyed being overcrowded. She thrives under consistent calm care a quiet lifestyle and took a few months for her to come out of her shell after she was last rehomed. She is more suited to a calm predictable lifestyle and doesn’t like to be around children much. She likes to stay lower and doesn’t climb much aside from couches and maybe a lower perch and therefore does well with houseplants up high. She can still be rather playful for her age but loves naps

We had a cat experienced foster home willing to take her in as a foster and get her used to domestic life. It took months, but now she loves the indoors, and loves human affection and attention. She follows her foster mom, Emilie, around the house, “yelling” at her, and demanding pets and butt scratches. She also gets along well with the resident cats and dog, and you can often find her hanging out with the dog!

Toby earned his name with receiving a 2nd chance at life with us to be healed and find his forever family. His Story: Toby was found in a colony of 20+ cats in Smithfield, PA in Fayette County. NPLB was called to help when he was severely injured. None of the cats at the colony were fixed. Toby was transported to us and we were able to get him into the vet to be clipped, cleaned and stitched up. It appeared at 1st that he was bitten by a dog. His jaw was ripped open from underneath tearing a bigger than thumb size hole open in his throat. You could literally see his veins and organs inside the hole. Even with this extreme injury, he showed not 1 sign of pain or anger. He showed nothing but love and affection, thankfulness and confidence. He has extremely friendly nature towards all dogs, we think if he was attacked by a dog, he would possibly fear them. Although we are not sure if he was attacked by an animal, or stick in a fence or trap, we knew he needed help. The rest of the kitties received TNR by a rescue who teamed up with us to tackle the colony while we cared for Toby to help manage the population. Lynx is a shy and sweet cat. Sure of herself, she'll be cautious until she's sure she can trust you. She isn't particularly motivated by treats, but once she trusts and likes you, she's happy to hop up next to you and ask for attention. She might take a few weeks to warm up, but this lovely girl is well worth the wait.

Lady Gaga is a quiet and gentle cat who, after living a rough life before being rescued, appreciates patience and softness from her caretakers. She enjoys being close to people and loves cuddles on her own terms, rather than being picked up. When she wants affection, she may gently and repetitively paw for attention or lie on her back with her belly up to let you know she’s ready for cuddles. Due to a minor leg issue that appears to be from an old injury, Lady Gaga generally prefers a more laid back lifestyle over running and jumping. She would love a home that lets her set the pace, where she will offer a sweet and calm presence and adorable little snores while she sleeps.

Thresher charms everyone at first sight with her wide, inquisitive eyes. She is an energetic and playful kitty who loves to jump, climb, and explore every nook and cranny. She likes to hang around her human with the hope that she can rope you into a game of fetch with a toy mouse—bounding after a mouse thrown across the room is her favorite thing ever! You might even find random toys and objects turn up on your bed after she’s done playing with them, as a friendly offering. Thresher enjoys pets and being in close proximity to people but doesn’t sit still for very long. Instead of climbing into your lap, she prefers to walk back and forth in front of you while you pet her, sometimes even standing up on her hind legs to bump her head against your hand. She is curious and fascinated by other cats and would love to have another cat friend to follow around and wrestle with. Bright-eyed, clever, and sometimes a bit mischievous, she is also very sweet. At the end of the day, she dutifully follows her person to bed and settles down nearby. She’s not one to cuddle, but she may reach out a paw to touch you while she’s sleeping. Thresher would do well in a home with lots of opportunity for her to roam and play, but she is also great at entertaining herself, whether it’s chirping at birds outside, pouncing on her own tail, or scaling and balancing atop a scratching post.
