🐶 🐕 ELLIE Female Border collie mix approximately 3 Years, 34 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Meet Ellie, a 34#, 3-year-old spayed border collie mix. Ellie is friendly, affectionate, and loves people. She is the kind of dog who doesn’t just wag her tail when you come home—she greets you with a full-body wiggle that makes it impossible not to smile. This affectionate, gentle girl lives for closeness and will happily scoot herself closer and closer until she’s curled right into your lap for cuddles. At 3-years-old, Ellie has a wonderful moderate energy level. She loves chasing a ball (and proudly brings it back!) but is just as content relaxing by your side. She’s quiet, rarely barks, and has lovely house manners. Ellie is crate-trained, housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, knows "sit," has a good recall, and—like most smart girls—has a soft spot for treats. Ellie gets along well with the dogs at the vet clinic where her foster mom works and is good with cats, making her a great candidate for a multi-pet home. She also adores car rides and gets excited to head to work each day, ready for her next adventure. Ellie is a tripod and lost a limb in an accident, but don’t let that fool you—it doesn’t slow her down one bit. She navigates life with confidence, joy, and grace. Adding to her charm is a beautiful blue speckle in her left eye that makes her truly unforgettable. Ellie’s dream home is simple—one filled with love, affection, and plenty of cuddles. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her person—walking, playing ball, or simply hanging out, Ellie might just be your perfect match. ELLIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about ELLIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. ELLIE is fostering in Chico in Butte County, CA.

Story
🐶 🐕 PERKINS (aka PERK) Special Needs Male Border collie Mix 7 years, 52 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Hi, my name is Perkins – just call me Perk - and I am about 7 years young. My Mom thinks I am a Border collie mixed with some type of guardian dog because I watch over my family and pack mates. I have notified them TWICE of rattlesnakes in our yard, barking loudly while keeping my pack mates at a safe distance away. Mom says I am a hero dog, as we have little kids and lots of dogs in our yard that need protection from dangers like that. Mom says I am special needs because I have some incontinence issues. I don't really know what that means. I let Mom and Dad know when I have to go potty, but when I am done, Mom says I leak. We've tried some different medicines and diagnostics, and Dad agrees it really isn't bad. When I hear the Velcro separate on my diaper I know its “free time” in the house. I stand still until I feel that little pat on my backside to signal it’s secure. Mom uses washable diapers, but I would probably do fine with other types as well. I don't like leaving my homestead, so when it's time for my checkup I get something special to help me relax. Everyone at the Vet’s office loves me and tells me what a good boy I am. Speaking of love, I love to chase a tennis ball. I may or may not bring it back depending on my whim at that moment. I also love to eat. Give me food, give me treats, YAY. I sit nice for my meals, which I always eat in my crate. I sleep quietly in my crate, but it's not my favorite place, and I will warn you if strangers are lurking outside because that’s my job. Oh, if you have that white stuff that’s cold, wet, and covers the ground that would be fun. I had a blast the one time it “snowed” here, that’s what my hoomans called it. Dad says he took the cutest video ever when I kept poking my nose out the doggy door, then retreated because what the heck is that? But once I was nudged out the door we had so much fun. I have been with my foster Mom and Dad for a few years and have helped with many of the other dogs and puppies that have come through our home, but I would also be fine as an only dog. I do enjoy playing at the other dog’s level. I wrestle with Skittles, because she is my size and she can take it, but I am gentIe with smaller dogs, or dogs not interested in that sort of thing. I am super friendly and loyal once I get to know you. I can be very vocal when I want something or when I am trying to warn you about something. I tolerate Mom's inside cats, but I don't like any cats in my yard. Mom says I need a cat-free environment for their benefit as well as mine (whatever that means). If you think you would be interested in me, and would like to learn even more about what makes me special, please submit an application so you can talk to my foster mom and dad (because we all know dogs can’t talk). Thank You, Perk PERKINS is micro-chipped, neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Story
🐶 🐕 BIRDIE Female border collie mix puppy, 13 weeks, 15 lbs & AVAILABLE – check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐶 Say “hello” to Birdie, a 15#, 13-week-old border collie girlie, who is ready for her next big adventure. This little girl is up for anything. Go to the vet? Sure, she’ll chase her lotus ball around the vet’s chair until she finds the treats inside. Visit her foster mom’s workplace with elevators, stairs, a bunch of new people, and on a day when it’s pouring rain outside? Sure, no problem: by the end of the day, she was assistant to the college publicist and had a bunch of new friends. Visit big dogs? Sure: let them try to catch her! Birdie is confident, social, curious, independent, and absolutely and hilariously lovable. It goes without saying that she’s a smarty pants, too! Birdie loves toys, chasing them, tossing them for herself, rolling them around the room. She will tug relentlessly. The nice thing is that even though she plays vigorously with her toys, she doesn’t chew them up or eat them. (And the same goes for when she finds one of her foster mom’s slippers. They are safe with Birdie.) Birdie likes playing with other dogs and with people. That said, she can content herself playing on her own, too. Zooming around the house or the backyard is one of her favorite games. And then she will settle down in her crate afterwards with her big, stuffed Lamb Chop toy and take a nap. Birdie is energetic and busy, but she does settle and seeks affection and cuddles. Birdie’s nickname is “Herdie Birdie.” Yes, she likes to zoom around, but she also likes to chase and sometimes grab pant legs, which are easy to confuse with a tug toy. Understanding the difference is one of her “learning objectives.” She is also learning to “sit,” “wait,” walk on a leash, and “give.” She is treat-and-toy-motivated and loves to learn. She is crate-trained, and mostly housebroken. She rides nicely in a crate in the car and loves to go on adventures. Birdie is athletic, energetic, smart, and fun. She will need training and “border collie” activities to make sure she is fulfilled and lives up to her full potential. She could be a good agility, nosework, or maybe even herding partner. Her ideal home will be one with lots of fun things to do and learn, with adventures and puppy challenges, and with someone who understands and appreciates the needs and potential of a young border collie. BIRDIE is started on puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped, and is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be spayed when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue Application (or apply here - https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to enquire about BIRDIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. BIRDIE is being fostered north of Sacramento County, CA.
