Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there... I'm Dixie. I'm quite literally the best girl, according to the staff and volunteers here at the rescue. About me: I LOVE the water—I could swim all day! I'm fully potty and house trained, and I'll even let you know when I need to go outside by crying at the door. I walk nicely on a leash and absolutely love playing fetch (at least until my age catches up with me!). I get along wonderfully with other dogs, know my name, and have excellent recall. Here at the rescue, I even enjoy off-leash walks because I stay close and always come back when I'm called. I am a quiet, gentle soul looking for a forever home to call my own. While I may be a little older, I still enjoy playing with my toys and spending time with other dogs when the mood strikes. My journey here has been quite the adventure. During a big storm, the local fire department found me in the water and brought me to the rescue. They later realized they had actually been trying to catch me for months, believing I was a stray. But it turns out I wasn't always on my own. I once had a loving owner, but after he passed away, I was given away because his mother was no longer able to care for me due to her own health challenges. I'm already spayed, fully vaccinated, 4DX tested (positive for heartworm), and up to date on my ProHeart 12 and Bravecto. I am heartworm positive right now, but I’ve already started treatment. I’ve been on antibiotics and am going through the ProHeart 12 protocol approved by the American Heartworm Society. The good news is that with this treatment, I should test negative in about 8–10 months. My adoption fee is $250, and you can apply to adopt me at www.adoggie4you.org. I'm currently in Texas, but I can travel to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington (Kentucky), and locations along the East Coast for an additional $250 transport fee. Due to state regulations, I cannot be transported to Rhode Island or Massachusetts.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 16, 2026, 5:21 pm

Story
Meet Morticia! Morticia is a 5-year-old, 40-pound mixed breed with a heart full of love and a favorite pastime—snuggling with her people. This sweet girl has plenty of superpowers! She's exceptionally house-trained and can comfortably hold it for long periods without accidents. Morticia is also a smart cookie who already knows commands like come, sit, and down. Most of all, she's a true cuddle bug who is happiest relaxing beside the people she loves. While Morticia is deeply devoted to her family, new places and unfamiliar environments can make her feel anxious. She thrives on routine and feels most comfortable in familiar surroundings. On walks, she prefers to keep to herself, giving other dogs and people plenty of space. Because of this, a home with a physically fenced yard would be ideal for her. Morticia's favorite things are simple: a good meal and spending quality time close to her humans. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will greet you with excitement every time you walk through the door, Morticia is ready to be your very best friend. Morticia is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $275.00. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Charlie! Charlie is a 3-year-old, 60lb Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as his fluffy coat. Through no fault of his own, Charlie and his sister, Mae, found themselves in rescue after their beloved owner was hospitalized and sadly would not be returning home. While losing everything he knew was heartbreaking, Charlie has proven that love and resilience can carry you through. Now, this bestest boy is ready to find a family to call his own. Charlie is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, and completely housebroken. He's settling into foster care beautifully and has quickly become everyone's favorite cuddle buddy. During the day, Charlie is a perfect gentleman. He's happy to hang out by the couch, keeping you company while you work, watch TV, or simply relax. When nighttime comes, however, Charlie's favorite place is snuggled up in bed with his people. If you're looking for a dog who believes there's no such thing as being too close to the ones he loves, Charlie is your perfect match. Charlie absolutely adores his foster dog siblings and would love a home with another confident, well-adjusted dog. Like any good Aussie, he has a natural herding instinct, so he'll do best with a canine friend who doesn't mind his playful style. He's also an active boy who would love a securely fenced yard where he can run, play, and get the zoomies out before coming inside for cuddles. Charlie walks well on a leash but does get excited and can pull, so he'll benefit from a family willing to continue his leash manners and help him become the perfect walking companion. Because Charlie sometimes forgets just how big he is when he's excited, we'd recommend a home with older children. His enthusiasm comes from a place of pure joy—his favorite way to show affection is by enthusiastically leaning, bumping, and loving on his people with his whole heart. Charlie has already experienced more change than any dog should have to, but he hasn't let it change the loving, loyal dog he is. He's looking for a family that will embrace him as a true member of the household, include him in adventures, laugh at his goofy moments, and always save him a spot beside them—especially at bedtime. If you're looking for a best friend who will fill your home with love, laughter, and endless devotion, Charlie is ready to meet you. Charlie is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $275.00.
