Freckles across his nose, a little black “Batman mask,” happy tippy-taps when he’s excited, and a heart that clearly wants to belong… this is Holliday. Equal parts goofy charm and affectionate shadow, Holliday is the kind of dog who leans all the way into love. His biggest dream? A couch, a person, and permission to pretend he’s a lap dog. From the moment you meet him, Holliday’s affectionate nature is easy to see. He absolutely lights up when people give him attention and has a charming little habit of doing “tippy taps” with his feet when he’s happy or excited. It’s the kind of happy motion that makes everyone around him smile whether they are meeting for the first time or its a familiar connection. And inside its only sweeter, he is affectionate and his aspirations for lap-dog life really shine. Holliday is more than happy to make the first move and will come in close to soak up the love and lean in for a new nestling nose kisses. He is still learning some of the everyday things that come with the cozy life as a family dog. For example, couches were a new concept to him. When invited up, he wasn’t quite sure how to get there at first and needed a little boost. Moments like that tell us he’s likely still discovering what a comfortable home life looks like. The good news is that he’s eager to connect with people, smart and very responsive to guidance, which makes him a wonderful boy to open your heart and home to. On leash, Holliday is enthusiastic and currently pulls a bit, especially when he sees other dogs he’d like to meet. Much of his life before rescue life was spent on a very short leash outdoors so the world is understandably very exciting to him right now. With a confident understanding handler he has been making great progress with continued leash training. He is also very responsive to direction, correction, and listens well when told “no.” With other dogs, Holliday shows friendly curiosity. When meeting dogs he likes to sniff hello and then wander off to explore the yard. Play is still a bit of a mystery to him, but with the right dog companion we have seen he learns quickly and is easily invited to play even if she doesn’t know the steps after that. When meeting new dogs he reads them well and respects boundaries and limits easily. We can see him being a wonderful fit for a home with medium-energy, similarly sized dogs. Holliday is also very food motivated, which is wonderful for training. He eats enthusiastically and takes treats gently. Because Holliday can be a little jumpy, which he is working on, when he’s excited to receive affection, we think he’ll do best in a home with older kids who won’t be knocked over by his enthusiastic greetings. His affection truly comes from a joyful place and is gentle, not rough or heavy footed. He just hasn’t quite learned yet that hugs don’t always have to involve all four feet leaving the ground, but some people do enjoy those big, warm dog hugs. A home with a yard would be ideal for Holliday while he continues building his leash skills, giving him space to stretch his legs and explore safely. With time, guidance, and a loving environment, we think this freckled little masked hero is going to blossom into a wonderful, lap-loving, whole-new-world companion and sidekick. Lila Lily has the kind of satellite ears that could pick up signals from three neighborhoods away and a personality sweet enough to win over just about anyone. She is affectionate from the moment she meets you and will happily climb right into your lap, lay on top of you, and love all over you. Lila is gentle, loyal, and the perfect mix of cuddly companion and adventure buddy. She can spend the day exploring with you and then come home ready to curl up close and enjoy a quiet evening together. She is not too big and not too small, but just right for joining you almost anywhere. We believe she may be an Australian Kelpie and Labrador Retriever mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. When it comes to people, Lila is incredibly sweet and loving. She is affectionate even with new people and loves being close. Sit down on the floor with her, and she will gently settle against you while soaking up every bit of affection you are willing to give. She is very loyal to her people and has the kind of loving personality that makes it easy to imagine her becoming someone’s devoted best friend. We think Lila could potentially be a great dog for a family with children, and we would be happy to arrange for her to meet some kiddos. Just let us know if you would like to see how she does with children. Lila is dog friendly and has done well with the dogs we have introduced her to. She is not the type to immediately become best friends with a dog she has just met or jump straight into playtime. She prefers to take things a little slower, get acquainted, and decide how she feels before letting loose. Once she is comfortable, she will play occasionally and seems to prefer chase-style play over physical wrestling. She could do well with a medium-energy dog who will give her the time and space she needs to open up. Her new family should understand that it may take her a little while to become playful with another dog in the home. Lila would also be perfectly happy as your one and only fur baby, soaking up all the attention for herself. Lila also met our house cat, Biggie, and handled the introduction beautifully. She was appropriate and very respectful around him. She did not chase him and was not bothered by Biggie jumping around or doing all the unpredictable things cats like to do. Biggie felt comfortable around her too, which is always a great sign. We do not know whether Lila has ever lived with a cat, and this was our first time seeing her interact with one. If you have a cat in your home, we can arrange for Lila to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Lila is crate trained and generally seems comfortable relaxing in her crate. So far, she has also shown us that she has great house manners and understands where the appropriate potty places are. As with any rescue dog adjusting to a new environment, she may need a little patience while learning her new routine. She loves treats, is eager to please, and already knows how to sit. She is not overly interested in toys right now, but that could change as she becomes comfortable and discovers which ones she likes. Her love of treats and desire to make her people happy should make continued training a fun way to strengthen your bond. Lila is easy to walk on leash and could be happy in a home with a yard, an apartment, or a townhome as long as she receives regular exercise and plenty of time with her people. She would be a wonderful companion for hikes and other adventures, but she is equally content staying home and cuddling with her favorite person. She loves her people and animal friends with whom she has established a trusting relationship. She is always eager to join any adventure on land or water. In the house, she is relaxed and mostly keeps to herself until it is time for her next walk or game of fetch. Lyla currently lives with 2 cats, 1 indoor uncaged bunny, and outdoor chickens. Lyla does best when given clear boundaries and expectations, while having patience as she can take a moment to consider what she is being told to do. She is smart and knows several commands: sit, settle, stay, heel, back, wait, load up, off, dress (to put on harness or lifejacket). 🌿 Ideal Home Lyla thrives with space, peace, and consistency. The perfect home for her would have: Land or acreage where she has space to run, explore, and sniff. She is curious and likes to hunt, so a fence is preferable. No barky neighboring dogs or busy roads sharing a fence, as this increases her anxiety. A calm environment without dogs walking by her yard all the time. She’s happiest in a rural or semi-rural home where she can run, relax, and feel secure. Lyla loves a consistent, predictable routine, and would thrive with a job. 🐕 Personality and Behavior Lyla is a sweet but cautious dog. She can be: Reactive when encountering unfamiliar dogs. Anxious in chaotic or noisy settings. Relaxed once she knows and trusts other dogs and new people. Affectionate but independent, appreciating her personal space and quiet time. Her reactivity comes from fear, not aggression — with patience and understanding, her loving, loyal side shines through. She bonds deeply with those who give her consistency and calm. Lyla is very considerate of the other animals in her current home. However, she still wants to chase cats, rabbits, and squirrels outside of the home. It will take careful introductions and training to help her understand who is part of the pack in a new home. 🏡 Why She Needs a New Home Lyla has a strong herding instinct and wants to make sure she keeps her environment safe. She views the dogs who walk by her yard everyday as a potential threat. She also lives on a street with a lot of barky dogs, some right next door, which increases her stress. There have been a few unfortunate instances of aggression from Lyla to other neighborhood dogs. So far, no one has been badly injured. However, we think it is prudent to find a more compatible environment for Lyla, so that she can be her best self, and we can maintain peace with our neighbors. 🌟 Lyla’s Wishlist Space to run and sniff Fetch or walks a couple of times per day A comfortable couch or bed to curl up on No shared fence with barky dogs, other dogs walking by, or busy roads The ability to spend ample time outside when the weather is nice Hikes through woods or near water- Lyla is good on a leash. When encountering other dogs, you can have her sit and cover her eyes with your hand to keep her calm. Boating adventures if possible- Lyla loves paddleboards and canoes. Lyla has never shown aggression towards young children. However, due to her herding instincts, a home without young children is preferable. 🧡 Summary Lyla is a sensitive, loyal companion who wants to please her people. She just needs a peaceful environment, open space, and a patient, understanding person who values routine and steady companionship.
