Meet Wendell! 💛 Wendell is a 6-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart as big as his 75-pound frame! This gentle giant was taken in as a stray at just 7 months old and has spent the last several years living peacefully in a home with 15 other dogs of all ages and sizes. He’s truly a pack-friendly boy who gets along with everyone. Unfortunately, his owner had to downsize her dog family, so Wendell came to us. From the moment we met him, it was clear—this boy is pure love! 🥰 He’s chill, affectionate, housebroken, and oh-so-sweet. Wendell absolutely aced his temperament test and showed us just how easygoing and wonderful he is. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion who will fit right in with your family, Wendell is your guy! This handsome hunk of love is ready to give his heart to a forever home. 🐾 Housebroken 🐾 Dog-friendly with all shapes and sizes 🐾 Big, gentle, and so loving 🐾 Perfect family dog

- Loves people and companionship - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style- Total goofball who loves toys and being silly - Smart boy who knows sit- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Shy pup who may need extra time to warm up to new people and things; will likely open up in a home environment with patience and time and may prefer a calm, quiet home- Loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats - so would be a lot of fun to train - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. - Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Knows sit and likes treats, so he'd be a lot of fun to train - Has been very good for baths here in the shelter - Tends to be introverted around other dogs and may prefer one-on-one interactions or smaller groups of dog friends; may not be comfortable in places where there are a lot of dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in his home (dog intro required) - Looking for a teens-and-up home right now- We don't know his history with cats - May have allergies (more info at ARL) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program.
